To calculate the sum of the products of the corresponding numbers in one or more ranges, use the powerful function SUMPRODUCT (SUMPRODUCT) in Excel.
- For example, the function SUMPRODUCT (SUMPRODUCT) below calculates the total cost:
=SUMPRODUCT(B2:B5,C2:C5)=СУММПРОИЗВ(B2:B5;C2:C5)
Note: Function SUMPRODUCT (SUMPRODUCT) performs the following calculations: (2*1000) + (4*250) + (4*100) + (2*50) = 3500.
- Ranges must be the same size or Excel will throw an error #VALUE! (#SO!).
- Function SUMPRODUCT (SUMPRODUCT) treats any text value as zero.
