Straight fingers, neatly trimmed nails, smooth skin, just perfect. In the summer, during a beach holiday or a walk in sandals, we will often have to reveal the true face of our feet.

People struggling with corns, warts or mycosis are less happy this season. In many cases, we can fight them on our own, but sometimes it will not be possible without the intervention of a doctor.

“And you show your legs!”

The skin of the feet is easily thickened under the weight of the body. Flip-flops and sandals expose your feet to the warm air and wind, making your skin dry quickly. Unless we intervene properly with care cosmetics, we can quickly get cracks that will be an open door for mycosis and bacteria.

Care with cosmetics

Depending on the degree of keratinization of the skin on the feet, we should reach for preparations with urea. Usually a 10% concentration of this substance is sufficient, but in the case of extremely strong keratosis, let’s look for a 30-50% concentration. Preparations whose composition is enriched with lactic or salicylic acid are also recommended.

Mechanical abrasion of skin calluses

Unfortunately, graters and pumice stones lead to the opposite effect than we would like. Under their regular action, the skin undergoes additional thickening, and it is this that causes its keratosis. Most of us do not realize that pumice is suitable for single use, because it accumulates exfoliated epidermis on the surface, and with it contributes to the development of microorganisms.

Warts and other nightmares

In terms of persistent diseases, the infamous leader is mycosis. It usually occupies the free edge of the nail, which then becomes brittle, thickens and discolored. Between the toes and on the edges of the feet, apart from unpleasant flaking, redness and cracks appear. Fortunately, her treatment does not last forever. At the latest, after three months, the symptoms should disappear completely. You can reach for tablets or use more traditional ways to fight this ailment, such as topical ointments, creams and even nail polishes.

In the summer, we can also observe a unique rash of warts, i.e. tiny, point calluses located on the soles of the feet, because it is really easy to get infected with them. Sometimes they are accompanied by soreness. In pharmacies, preparations dedicated to freezing are available, which is important, we can buy them without a prescription. However, in an advanced condition, it will not be possible without the intervention of a dermatologist. There are three ways of treatment here: laser treatment, electrocution and, of course, freezing.
