Summer foundation for oily skin

Oily skin does not tolerate summer weather particularly well: in the heat, sebum production is activated, which increases unwanted shine, which means makeup becomes less resistant. A good way out is to change the foundation.

Features of foundation for oily skin for the summer

Materials

What to look for when choosing a foundation for oily skin in the summer?
  • Texture. Protecting itself from ultraviolet radiation and high temperatures, the skin produces more sebum. For this reason, it is important to choose lightweight formulas, preferably water-based formulas such as fluids. They are well distributed and quickly absorbed, do not leave excess shine and discomfort.

  • Versatility. In summer, you want to use less cosmetics than ever. A good option for oily skin is a BB cream that, in addition to evening out skin tone and masking imperfections, provides hydration and sun protection.

  • Matting. For oily skin, especially in the heat, a foundation with matting properties is relevant. Look for absorbent substances in its composition.

  • Sun protection. It will not be superfluous to repeat that in the summer you should not forget about protection from UV radiation. If your foundation does not contain sunscreen, you can additionally use an SPF spray that is applied over makeup. Suitable for this purpose Sunscreen dry face spray “Expert Protection” Ambre Solaire, SPF 50, Garnier.

  • Non-comedogenic. Since we are talking about oily skin, this is the first thing you need to pay attention to in the description of the product. The cream must be non-comedogenic and/or designed for oily skin. Manufacturers usually focus on this.

  • Hue. Even if we do our best not to sunbathe in the summer, the skin still becomes a little darker. In this regard, it is worth adjusting the tone of the cream.

Among modern tonal products, as a rule, you can choose not only the perfect tone, but also excellent skin care that meets its needs.

Composition

It is best to use a foundation designed specifically for oily skin and containing SPF. If your skin is prone to breakouts (and this tendency increases in summer because sebum production naturally increases), then the following ingredients should be in the formula:
  • salicylic acid, which has antibacterial properties;

  • zinc to reduce the amount of sebum;

  • perlite or silicon for matting;

  • antioxidants to protect the skin from free radicals;

  • vitamins to enhance its own protective functions;

  • thermal water, saturating with minerals;

  • hyaluronic acid for hydration;

  • lightweight silicones for ease of application and smoothing tone;

  • sunscreens, chemical and/or physical.

Selection and variety rules

What you need to consider when choosing a foundation or fluid. Read our tips.

BB creams and tinted treatments

BB cream is perhaps the best option for oily skin for the summer. This tool moisturizes, relieves the skin of excess sebum, tightens pores, evens out tone and smoothes relief. Just look carefully at the SPF index – it should match your phototype (if you can’t decide, take our test).

In summer, for residents of Russia who belong to the first two phototypes, SPF 15 may not be enough. It is optimal to apply a spray over makeup or a sunscreen fluid before it.

Matting

Matting is relevant in the summer, not only for oily, but also for normal and combination skin. It is important to choose products that are labeled “non-comedogenic” on the packaging.

Components that have a matting effect: perlite, silicon, some plant extracts.

Persistent

Longevity is one of the biggest challenges for a summer foundation for oily skin. However, her modern cosmetics successfully solves due to the smart composition, in which the following components complement each other:

  • matting;

  • substances that regulate the amount of sebum, water-repellent components;

  • hydrofixators – moisturizing is necessary for any type of skin and in any weather;

  • pigments.

All of this can be wrapped up in a formula with a light texture that glides over the skin like a veil rather than a heavy cream.
