Summer is the most carefree time of the year. It would seem, walk, relax, enjoy life and the variety of greenery. But in fact, it is our favorite hot months that are very dangerous to health. About what diseases come to the fore when it is warm and sunny outside, the head of the health department of the Public Duma expert center, therapist Kirill Ivanychev, told Woman`s Day.
Who of you at least once in your life has not picked a ripe apple or fruit from an apricot tree and ate right on the spot? Or didn’t you drink water from the spring? In nature, everything seems harmless grace. Well, what could be wrong with a cherry from your own dacha? And then pathogenic bacteria enter the scene. Together with unwashed fruits, berries and dirty water, they enter our body and attack it. Several hours pass, and we realize that something has gone wrong, the stomach hurts, we feel sick, the temperature rises. There are signs of poisoning.
By the way, you can earn it even if you thoroughly wash the gifts of nature. It is enough just to consume unripe fruit or overdo it with a serving. But you can protect yourself from such troubles. First, wash your hands often with soap and water and rinse fruits and vegetables well. Second, don’t overeat. And thirdly, drink only boiled or bottled water.
Potatoes with mushrooms are perhaps the most favorite country dish. And it is one of the most dangerous. Yes, everyone knows what a pale toadstool and fly agaric look like – poisonous mushrooms number one, but edible morels can also be poisoned. Typical symptoms of such intoxication will be colicky abdominal pain, severe general weakness, profuse sweating, nausea and vomiting, indigestion, headache, delirium, hallucinations, convulsions, shortness of breath and even coma. What if you suspect that you have swallowed a harmful mushroom? Call an ambulance immediately. Only professional doctors will be able to carry out detoxification therapy.
Summer is the time for picnics, with sandwiches, salads, and sometimes even with cakes, depending on who tastes what. Agree, breakfast or lunch in nature is a great alternative to expensive cafes. There is only one drawback, outside the refrigerator, fermented milk products, meat, fish and sausage spoil. If we violate the storage standards, and in this case – the temperature regime, bacteria inevitably multiply in the products. In the sun, staphylococcus develops in yoghurts, curds and products with confectionery cream. So think ten times before grabbing a milkshake or eclair for a picnic.
How to understand that you are poisoned, and not just overeat? Symptoms appear at different times after a meal. For example, if you have eaten unripe fruits, they will make themselves felt after 1-2 hours; if you eat meat, fatty foods that take longer to digest, malaise may occur later – after 3-6 hours.
What to do? Drink as much liquid as possible and induce vomiting: press on the root of the tongue with two fingers. Consider, no matter how unpleasant it is, but in order to completely cleanse the intestines and stomach, you need to do this procedure at least 3-4 times. Then take activated charcoal and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. And don’t forget to call your doctor.
On the next day after food poisoning, you should follow a diet – do not eat fresh vegetables, fruits, fatty, fried, salted, pickled, canned.
When it’s hot outside, you really want to drink not just cool, but ice water, eat ice cream, turn on the air conditioner harder. Such sudden changes in temperature allow us to freshen up and at the same time reduce immunity. And when the immune system is not working well, viruses and bacteria multiply well, attack the weakened body and cause a runny nose, colds and sore throats.
Yes, yes, the risk of getting sore throat in the summer increases! It is easy to recognize it: if you feel a sore throat, your tonsils are enlarged, your temperature rises high, see a doctor immediately. Before visiting the doctor, drink plenty of warm liquid, gargle with decoctions of herbs and an antiseptic.
Whatever one may say, but from insects in summer there is no escape. Small midges, mosquitoes and other bloodsuckers can cause a fair amount of trouble. The body’s first reaction to an attack by a biting person is redness, swelling, and itching of the skin. But sometimes such a minor nuisance can develop into a problem – a large redness or a purulent wound. In this case, an infection is brought into the site of the bite.
If you suffer from itching, try not to scratch the wound and prepare a solution that relieves the discomfort. Mix ammonia in a ratio of 1: 3 with water, and treat the affected area with it.
