Suede care: how to clean? Video

Style and luxury in clothing is expressed not only in precious products and fluffy furs. Natural suede things are not so flashy, but this is an indicator of the status and accuracy of the owner.

Suede – tanning made of animal skin, made using the fat-tanning technology. Suede leather retains part of the animal’s hairline, so it feels soft and velvety to the touch. The modern textile industry allows suede to be dyed in all sorts of colors, creating an endless variety of products: shoes, outerwear, bags and other accessories. Suede things look stylish and expensive, and caring for them can turn into a real headache, because it is very difficult to return to its original appearance when damaged suede.

When purchasing a suede product, do not spare money for special care products for capricious material. Required – moisture resistant impregnation, which will protect your shoes and warm feet

Since suede leather retains its natural hairline, it can often become shiny. You can return such a thing to its original appearance with the help of improvised means. Pour 1 teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of pure milk and mix thoroughly. Apply the resulting mixture to the product and hold for a few minutes, then rinse off the composition with a damp cotton pad. Repeat the procedure if necessary after drying.

Another effective method is rubbing with a mixture of water and ammonia. Pour 1/4 of ammonia into half a glass of clean water. In the resulting liquid, wet a cotton swab and wipe the problem areas of the product with it. After cleaning, lightly rinse the item under running water and lubricate it with a vinegar solution: 1 teaspoon of vinegar per liter of water.

Cleaning the suede from dust should be carried out regularly, otherwise the color of the product will noticeably fade, and the velvety will be erased. In this case, the main condition is to wait until the shoes are completely dry, otherwise the dirt will not disappear, but smeared over the surface. Wipe dry stains of dirt with a clean foam sponge so that they fly off like dust and do not eat into the pile. Stubborn dirt spots are cleaned with a stiff brush, having previously held the product over hot steam.

Bulky or very dirty suede items can be washed in a mild soap solution. The water should be warm, but not hot, and the movements should be fast. Try not to rub the thing too much, so as not to spoil the pile and deform the entire fabric (not to leave creases on it).

If you are afraid of not dealing with dirt at home, seek professional help from a dry cleaner.

Choose a time at which you will wear suede clothes. In the case of shoes, try not to wear suede in the demi-season: dirt and dampness will quickly ruin even the highest quality suede, and because of the softness of the skin, you risk getting your feet wet and catching a cold. But in dry weather it is easy to care for suede, you just need to clean it from dust. For example, suede ballerinas are great shoes for a summer evening.

The modern textile industry produces high-quality artificial suede. If you cannot properly clean such a product, it will not be a pity to lose it.
