– Jumping into the water when we are warmed by sunbathing is a very risky behavior – says cardiologist Dr. Jerzy Górny. He explained that a sudden change in temperature can lead to ischemia of the heart muscle or the brain.

Drowning in Poland
As of April 1, the Police Headquarters recorded 115 drownings. For years, emergency services have indicated that Poles engage in risky behaviors during rest, which result in a tragedy.
The Government Safety Center reminds you to swim only in designated areas, never enter the water after drinking or intoxicating substances, and to wear life jackets while in a boat, kayak or pedalo.
RCB also advises not to jump into the water in unknown places, not to run into the water after sunbathing, not to swim on the mattress far from the shore, not to enter the water immediately after a meal, and to follow the instructions of the lifeguard.
– Even a small dose of alcohol, even one beer in susceptible individuals, will certainly disturb the perception of reality. Then he is bolder, bolder, less critical. On the other hand, higher doses of alcohol will impair balance, hearing and eyesight. When such a daredevil finds himself in the water, he is not able to see what is happening to him – explained the specialist in internal diseases, cardiologist Dr. Jerzy Górny, MD, Ph.D.
Even well-swimmers drown after alcohol because they are unable to control their bodies. Just like they fall over in the street, the same happens when they are in the water – they just go to the bottom – he added.

Thermal shock very dangerous to health
The hot summer makes us relax by the water more often than usual. Rapid cooling off by diving into water can lead to thermal shock.
