Tomsk is a student city, and most of the students, of course, live in hostels. We asked the guys to show their rooms unadorned. So to speak, in real time.
Let’s start with the fact that over the past 10-15 years, the “hostels” in the city have practically not changed. No, they, of course, had the Internet and even installed plastic windows, but the standards of settlement are still the same: two (if you’re lucky), three or even four people live in the rooms. Bunk beds are also found, amenities are on the floor.
A separate topic is bathrooms. Let’s be honest, they were sincerely happy when the guys told that many now have only 2-3 rooms with showers, new renovations in the washrooms, and the whole environment looks more like a home environment than a “common” one.
In the process of preparing the material, some students (especially freshmen) complained to us about the terrible living conditions. They say, before dropping in, they and their parents had to make major repairs in the room. And even attached photos of those same rooms “before” and “after”. But our journalists (who, by the way, also lived in the hostel) showed no pity, but, on the contrary, added in a stern voice that “everyone lived like that” and “no one was overworked”.
But when they sent us a photo of the new TPU dormitory (the building was built last year in order to relieve the student campus, where about 6 thousand people live), and it even has a gym and an elevator with a mirror, we realized that everyone’s living conditions really are various.
Or another example. Below are photos taken at TPU dormitory No. 15 (for foreign students). Living conditions there are also quite comfortable. The room has all the necessary furniture and an excellent bathroom that can be used by three people. Equipped kitchen.
“The hostel is at the highest level!” – admitted Paola Delgado.
By the way, we also found such rooms, the design of which, without exaggeration, can be called author’s and, by the way, very interesting! Indeed, bare walls can always be painted with bright colors or decorated with pictures! Take note!
“And so we have a“ hostel ”- a section. The section includes 4 rooms (two double rooms and two triple rooms). There is also a shower, two sinks and a toilet. Also, each section has a mirror, which is very important for girls, ”says Vera Kopteva, who lives in the dormitory of the medical college. – The room has a large wardrobe, two tables (one kitchen one for study), beds, bedside tables, shelves for books. There is a kitchen on each floor, laundry rooms on two floors, each with three machines. We are also proud that we have study rooms on each floor, a tennis table on the third, and a TV on the fourth! In addition, we were given the Internet! “
By the way, according to the latest data, about 38 thousand students and postgraduates live in 22 hostels of Tomsk universities. Provision of needy students with hostels in general for universities in Tomsk is 85,9 percent.
And also in Tomsk there is a unique project “Parents are worried”. It was organized by the Tourist Information Center with the support of the City Culture Board. Special excursions were organized for the parents of applicants from a number of Tomsk universities. The students themselves acted as guides. They showed educational buildings, dormitories, canteens, social infrastructure of campuses of their universities and secondary education institutions.
