Structuring makes information easier to view. In this example, we will learn how to count rows with related data and collapse a group of columns.
- For a start sort the data by column Company.
- On the Advanced tab Data (Data) click the button Subtotal (Subtotal).
- The list With every change in (At each change in) select Company. We will use this column to structure our table.
- The list Operation (use function) select Quantity (Count).
- Check the box next to Company (see picture below).
- Press OK.Result:
- To collapse a group of cells, click the “–” (minus). You can use numbers to collapse or expand groups by level. For example, click 2to display only the sublevels.
Note: Press 1to display totals only, or 3to display everything.
To collapse a column group, do the following:
- Highlight columns A и B.
- On the Advanced tab Data (Data), click on Group (Group).
- Click on the sign “–“.Result:
- To remove a structure, select any cell from the data set and on the tab Data (Data) click the button Subtotal (Subtotal). Then click on Remove all (Remove All).
