In the magazine Obesity published an article on the study of the effectiveness of various methods of losing weight. It was funded by the National Institutes of Health and was conducted by Baruch College-University of New York.
They were invited to the study 141 obese people, mostly women. They were divided into 3 groups. First part attended meetingsduring which they motivated themselves and talked about nutrition, exercise and their effects. The second group passed individual weight loss program with the control of health workers, and the third was a combination both techniques. The surveillance continued 48 weeks.
The results show that losing weight in a group, meeting several people and giving each other real support was the most effective. People in this group lost weight on average 6 kg on the roof!. In the mixed group, the average decrease was at the level 3,5 kg on the roof!and in people only under the care of health professionals 5,5 kg on the roof!.
Most likely, the weight loss advantage in the group is due to strength mutual motivation to progress. The weight loss system in the group also had rewards for specific goals, which is also not without significance, as is the weekly weight control.
