Strawberry tincture on vodka, gin and tequila at home

Any of the tinctures prepared according to the recipe in this article will, on its own, be inferior to most strawberry liqueurs and liqueurs, both in taste and aroma. Strawberries, like many other fruits, are best disclosed in drinks with sugar. But everything has its time and place!

To be honest, I don’t have much to say about strawberry tinctures. We always try to make an original introductory part for each of the articles, form some kind of concept, come up with a story, play with interesting facts, etc. etc. At the time of writing this article, a lot had been said about strawberries: in the article about strawberry liqueurs, the emphasis fell on the German Xu Xu, in the article about liqueurs they beat the summer mood, about moonshine – the high cost of strawberries, about wine – the stupidity of the British (now the Irish should chip in like ). What to say about strawberry tinctures?

Homemade strawberry tincture

Any of the tinctures prepared according to the recipe in this article will, on its own, be inferior to most strawberry liqueurs and liqueurs, both in taste and aroma. Strawberries, like many other fruits, are best disclosed in drinks with sugar. But everything, as they say, has its time and place. Sweet liquor or liquor won’t do you much good when the sun heats the roofs white, and the air around breaks the space, rattling with heat. On days like this, you need a glass of refreshing liquid, not a sugary-sweet goo. Believe me, strawberry tincture with ice and tonic will be a real salvation …

Portions 1 a portion

Ingredients

Universal Recipe:

  • fresh strawberries (on demand)
  • vodka, moonshine or alcohol 40-50% (on demand)
  • flavor additives (basil, tarragon, lime, lemon)
  • simple sugar syrup (on demand)

Strawberry lime tequila:

  • 250 ml ripe strawberries (cut in half, by volume)
  • 2 lime (one for the zest, the other cut into slices)
  • 350-500 ml tequila

Strawberry Basil Gin:

  • 250 ml ripe strawberries (cut in half, by volume)
  • ½ cups basilica (chopped, tightly packed)
  • 350-500 ml gin

Instructions

  • Wash strawberries, remove stems and cut in half. Place the berries in a jar of a suitable volume (in this case, a liter jar is more than enough). Add flavoring additives and pour everything with alcohol.

  • Close the jar tightly and leave in a dark, cool place. After 3-5 days, you can start trying.

  • When the taste and aroma of the tincture suits you (usually after a week of infusion, there are no serious changes in taste), pour it through a sieve into a clean container.

  • Before bottling, it is advisable to filter the tincture through coffee filters or cotton wool, then pour it into a clean, dry bottle and seal tightly.

  • Store strawberry tincture on water and other alcoholic beverages in a dark, cool place. Consume within 1 year!

If desired, any of the tinctures in this recipe can be sweetened to taste with a simple sugar syrup made from equal amounts of sugar and water. In order not to lose degrees in the drink and not change its essence (this is still a tincture), I recommend preparing the syrup in a 2: 1 ratio, that is, 2 parts of sugar and 1 of water.

As for the universal recipe, fill the jar with sliced strawberries to the brim, evenly distributing flavors between the strawberries. Do not press strawberries. After that, you can pour vodka or other alcohol up to the very neck, and then follow the instructions. An excellent result is guaranteed.

Basil has a light aniseed flavor, so it goes great with gin, while strawberry adds a sweet-fruity twist. But with vodka this amount of basil will be too much, so if you decide to make strawberry tincture with basil on vodka, add only a few leaves to a liter jar filled with strawberries – from 2 to 5, no more.

You can make a frozen strawberry tincture at any time of the year for original cocktails. Instead of vodka, alcohol, moonshine, gin and tequila, you can use any other strong alcoholic drink that you think will be combined with a berry. You should definitely try grape brandy, that is, cognac, as well as grappa and other fruit distillates.

Strawberry tinctures are ideal for making original cocktails. For example, strawberry-lime tequila tincture (where lime, by the way, can be safely replaced with lemon) is ideal for making Margaritas, and strawberry-basil gin is an ingredient for gin and tonic. Everything has its time and place, right? In general, show your imagination, as the author of the following recipe showed it. The supremacy of the spirit of adventurism over the stereotyped behavior of a homemade bootlegger fully reflects the recipe for strawberry rhubarb tincture. I guess I’ll finish them…

Strawberry tincture with rhubarb

The edible part of rhubarb is only its stems – the leaves are poisonous. This is a vegetable (which is nothing terrible, because we have already prepared drinks with vegetables), but it is often used as a fruit, as part of desserts and pastries. Its sour-spicy flavor is reminiscent of apple and strawberry at the same time, so the presence of rhubarb in this recipe should not raise any questions. Perhaps, this tincture can easily swindle any sugary liquor to taste, but at the same time retain the ability to quench thirst. The main thing is not to overdo it with sugar!

  • 8-12 pcs. ripe strawberries, cut in half
  • 400 g rhubarb stalks
  • 150-300 g of powdered sugar
  • 2 thin slices of ginger root
  • 1 liter of vodka/alcohol/moonshine 40-50%

Place all the ingredients in a jar of a suitable volume, close tightly and shake until the sugar is completely dissolved (to adjust the drink to your tastes, I recommend adding sugar after insisting on strawberries, rhubarb and ginger). Leave in a dark, cool place for 3-4 weeks, shake the contents 2-3 times a week. When the liquid acquires a pleasant pink color and begins to suit your taste, drain the tincture through a sieve or several layers of gauze, filter through coffee filters or cotton wool, and then pour into clean, dry bottles. An extract is welcome. The setting is recommended to be used within 1 year. Tastes everything!
