To date, breeders have bred simply the widest range of strawberry varieties. There are both non-repairable and remontant types. The latter include Festivalnaya strawberries. This strawberry is one of the most popular varieties.
Description
This plant was bred by domestic breeders in Pavlovsk. Strawberry Festival belongs to the universal varieties. The bushes are vigorous and quite compactly collected. The formation of tall and dense leaves is characteristic. Thick peduncles are placed at the level or slightly below the level of the leaves (at the same time, sometimes they are located above the leaves). The inflorescences are small and compact. Bisexual flowers are formed on the bush.
This type of strawberry is classified as an average ripening variety. However, under certain conditions, this species can bear fruit relatively late. The fruiting period itself is long, thanks to which Festivalnaya strawberries have gained such high popularity, especially among amateur gardeners.
This strawberry has a high yield. Even small berries appear all the time until late autumn. Berries of rather large sizes ripen on strawberry bushes, the weight of which at the first harvest reaches, on average, 45 g, and then it may slightly decrease – the minimum weight of the fruits of subsequent harvests is 10 g. The fruits are oblong in shape and bright red in color. In addition to the bright and defiant red color, the skin is characterized by a slight reflection. The neck is wide and short. Achenes with seeds are located on almost the entire surface of the berries and have a bright red color. The flesh has a bright pink color and is average in density. Berries have a very pleasant taste.
One berry of the Festivalnaya variety contains sugar (7%), acid (about 1%) and up to approximately 4 mg of vitamin C. The high resistance of this plant to most diseases and pests is described. There is an average resistance to powdery mildew, as well as low resistance to verticillium wilt (infection).
Characteristics of a variety
Strawberry Festival has the following characteristics:

- the taste of the fruit is sweet and sour;
- fruit size – from 10 to 45 g;

Due to its characteristics, Festivalnaya strawberry deservedly occupies one of the leading places in terms of prevalence.
Features of care
Like all remontant varieties, Festivalnaya requires a certain amount of care so that it can retain all its positive qualities.
This plant is suitable for growing in temperate climates. Most often it can be found in the middle and central strip of Our Country, the Urals, and even in Siberia.
This strawberry can be propagated by seeds, tendrils and rosettes. The last days of November are considered the optimal time for preparing seedlings for planting next year. After harvesting, seedlings are stored in a dark room all winter. In the spring they are planted on the first warm days. If you didn’t have time, then you can re-plant only in early autumn, somewhere from mid-August to the end of September. Cannot be planted in summer due to dry soil. For the same reason, seedlings are planted after a good rain. To avoid the formation of an earthen crust, the soil near the bush is sprinkled with dry soil or humus.
Fertilize the soil well before planting. You need to plant a plant only in a well-lit place. To get an excellent harvest, the first flowers are cut off, while leaving a mustache.
After planting, care for the bushes comes down to:
- to abundant and frequent watering;
- mulching the earth. For these purposes, straw, lime, roofing material, mowed grass are used;
- weeding from weeds;
- fertilizing with fertilizers;
- spraying bushes from diseases and parasites.
