When choosing a bed for strawberries, you need to pay attention to what used to grow on it. The best plant precursors are:

  • carrot;
  • bow;
  • beet;
  • beans;
  • dill;
  • garlic.

To save space in the garden, dill and onions can be placed along the edge of the strawberry beds. It is undesirable to plant strawberries after nightshades, cabbage and cucumbers.

Strawberries should be placed in a sunny, wind-protected area in the garden. You can plant currant bushes around the perimeter of the site, which will become additional protection for strawberry beds from the movement of air masses and rapid evaporation of moisture.

The site is prepared 2 weeks before planting strawberries – they dig up, remove weeds, add compost, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. On the garden bed, a distance of 20 cm is made between the strawberry seedlings, and 40 cm between the rows

Maintenance includes regular watering, weeding and feeding. The plant is moisture-loving, during the ripening of berries on 1 m² of strawberry beds, about 25 liters of water are required. In warm sunny weather, water the plants once a week. If it rains frequently, the strawberry bushes can be covered with plastic wrap to prevent the development of rot. It is useful to mulch the soil under strawberry bushes with straw, this reduces moisture evaporation and prevents weeds from appearing.

The Alba strawberry wins the love of gardeners thanks to its early fruiting and beautiful smooth berries. The variety is great for sale, for making homemade preparations and just for food.
