Stomach hurts at the beginning of pregnancy

The long-awaited two stripes make a woman attentive to her health. The belly at the beginning of pregnancy is completely invisible, but the expectant mother already feels some discomfort. It is important to learn to distinguish normal changes and associated pain from a serious problem requiring immediate hospitalization.

Why do mild abdominal pains appear at the beginning of pregnancy?

The first days after conception, a woman usually does not feel anything. In a couple of weeks, when the fetus is implanted, big changes will begin. The uterus will increase in size, and hormones will be completely rebuilt to a new mode of operation. All this is accompanied by uncomfortable sensations of varying strength.

The abdomen at the beginning of pregnancy hurts due to the restructuring of the body

Why does the stomach hurt at the beginning of pregnancy:

  • Relaxin softens the ligaments and changes the position of the internal organs. The sensations will be similar to the beginning of menstruation – weak, pulling pains.
  • The fruit, albeit slightly, but increases in size. The body of the uterus grows, it becomes round and can press on neighboring organs. First of all, the intestines are displaced.
  • Progesterone affects digestion, especially the rate at which food passes through the intestines. Flatulence, bloating, constipation are frequent companions of pregnancy. Change your diet to a more gentle one, eat more often, but in smaller portions.

All of these symptoms are normal and do not require treatment, provided they do not interfere with normal activities.

When should you see a doctor if your stomach hurts at the beginning of pregnancy?

Listening to your feelings is helpful in order to identify signs of a serious problem and take timely action.

What symptoms of a pregnant woman should immediately seek medical help:

  • Painful sensations increase. Uncharacteristic cramps appear, pulls so hard that it is impossible to move, stand and even sit.
  • The temperature has risen sharply;
  • Acute pain in one side, profuse bleeding, fainting are symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy. Call an ambulance immediately.
  • Severe pain in the lower abdomen and bleeding is a symptom of threatened abortion. Lie down and call emergency help.
  • Sometimes, instead of the corpus luteum, which is responsible for the production of progesterone, a cyst forms. It puts a lot of pressure on the surrounding organs and causes localized pain. They are characterized by their constancy. With timely therapy, the cyst is not dangerous.
  • The pain may be associated with a non-gynecological problem – appendicitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis and other diseases.

Before pregnancy, a woman must learn to distinguish between normal physiological discomfort and illness.

Mild abdominal pain is normal during the first trimester. You need to be wary when they are systematic and intensify. In this case, see your doctor as soon as possible.
