Stings in the chest – what could be the causes?

Sometimes I get a stabbing pain in my chest on the left side of the lower ribs and can’t catch a deep breath.

Recently it was about 2 weeks ago and it took about 5 minutes until I started getting dizzy and had to lie down but after that time it was over. Now, however, for two days I have felt the stinging constantly, but it is not that painful and I can breathe normally. However, this is starting to bother me more and more. I don’t know if it has anything to do with this prickling, but for a long time when I lie and press the belly in the area of the navel, I feel like a thickening and a dull pain. Besides, I have a terribly large protruding belly. I weigh 50 kg at 165 cm tall and look like 4 months pregnant. I would like to add that 11 months ago I gave birth to my second child and despite the fact that I trained my abdominal muscles for 3 months, it is as big as it was. – Ewelina

The chest complaints you describe seem to be nonspecific, although their characteristics are too short to clearly state that they cannot be caused by a more serious disease. There are many causes of chest pain, their differentiation requires collecting a detailed history from the patient regarding the circumstances of the occurrence of pain (at rest or during exercise, in stressful situations), its nature (stinging, squeezing, crushing, spreading, etc.), radiation to others body area, temporal relationship with food intake, determination of pain relief factors, etc., and careful physical examination. It cannot be ruled out that the presented symptoms of abdominal and chest pain are related. Therefore, it would be best to make an appointment with your GP who will assess the need for additional tests.

Not all changes that occur in a woman’s body during pregnancy are fully reversible. It is very good that you trained and strengthened your abdominal muscles after childbirth, but there is also the issue of the skin on the abdomen stretched during pregnancy, which does not shrink in every woman in the same way, and perhaps excess fat in this area. Further physical exercises, preferably aerobic, are recommended to strengthen all muscle groups and burn fat, massages and the use of firming cosmetics.
