Stick-brush for cleaning windows: a versatile helper. Video

A stick-brush (aka a mop for windows) is a tool that is still a “mystery” for many housewives. This device is successfully used by professionals from cleaning companies, but it is not always possible to clean the windows with a brush at home: if you use it incorrectly, stains remain on the glass.

How to choose a window mop

Mops for windows from different manufacturers can differ greatly from each other, but the main thing remains unchanged: the design provides for a nozzle for washing window glass (it can be made of a sponge or microfiber) and a rubber scraper (water purifier) designed to drive away dirty water.

The squeegee handle for windows can be of different lengths, ranging from 15-20 centimeters to several meters (as a rule, these are telescopic sliding structures). Mops with short handles are quite convenient when it comes to standard windows, and the hostess is quite tall. If, by raising your hand, you can touch the top binding of the window frame with your fingers, you don’t really need a long-handled mop.

Mops with telescopic handles are indispensable in houses with panoramic windows and high ceilings, as well as in cases when it is necessary to clean non-opening windows on a balcony or loggia.

Often, mops with a telescopic handle are also equipped with a device with which you can change the working angle of the nozzles, which greatly simplifies the work.

Before you start cleaning the glass with a mop, rinse and dry the window frame, as well as the sill. If the windows have not been washed for several months and are heavily soiled, wipe off visible dirt from the glass with a slightly damp cloth. After that, you can start cleaning the glass with a mop.

Pour warm water into a basin and add window cleaner (1-2 tablespoons for each liter of water). Also prepare a bowl of clean water for rinsing the attachments, a couple of dry kitchen towels, or clean cotton rags. Paper towels and toilet paper are also useful, but you can do without them.

Instead of liquid for washing windows, you can add “folk remedies” to the water – vinegar, ammonia or vodka

The technology for washing glass with a mop is as follows: – moisten a spongy or microfiber brush attachment in a washing solution, do not wring out; – using light pressure, moisten the glass over the entire surface; – if there are particularly dirty spots on the glass – treat them additionally, in a circular motion; – rinse the attachment in clean water, squeeze out excess water; – wipe the rubber scraper with a clean cloth or towel; – install the scraper in the upper left corner of the window and, pressing against the glass, move the mop strictly vertically, from top to bottom, driving out water and dirt – to the lower edge of the frame; – wipe the scraper dry; – repeat the operation on the next section of the window, setting the scraper so that its left edge goes a centimeter and a half into the already cleaned area.

After each pass, wipe the scraper dry: only in this case there will be no water streaks on the window.

After the glass has been cleaned, all that remains is to wipe the lower part of the frame, collect water from the window sill (this can be done with a mop cleaning nozzle) and, if small stains or unworked areas in the corners remain on the glass, wipe them until shiny with paper or a dry cloth …
