Step 79: “The truth is like sunlight: when you break down your walls, go in alone”
The 88 rungs of happy people
In this chapter of «The 88 steps of happy people» I invite you to be closer to your goal without ceasing in the attempt

In the search for Truth there are only two ways. Being predisposed to change our current beliefs or being predisposed to perpetuate them. If you are predisposed to change them, then you consider that you still have a lot to discover. If you are not, then you consider that you have already discovered everything.
Therefore, the number one requirement to increase Inner Success is to be predisposed to change many of your old beliefs and convictions for new ones that are closer to the Truth, your truth. There are three ways to carry out this process: be predisposed to YES, be predisposed to NO, be predisposed to maybe. Only the latter is correct.
When you are predisposed to yes, you are predisposed to believe everything. Surely you know people who, whatever they tell you, are predisposed to believe it. There is nothing wrong with believing things. Believe them without passing any kind of filter, yes. Why? Because it makes you delusional, and a delusional could even believe things that are contradictory. Not believing anything is as bad as believing everything.
When you are predisposed to no, you are predisposed to deny everything. Surely you know them too. Whatever they tell you, your first response is “I don’t believe it.” They are victims of a systematic rejection of everything new. This makes them reject falsehoods, but also truths, although they will never know which is which, since they have not stopped to verify it.
When you are predisposed to maybe, you are neither predisposed to believe nor disbelieve. You have a predisposition to inquire. When you adopt this position, notice everything you are saying: I do not close in on the band, I do not refuse from the start, I am open, I do not cling to my beliefs just because they are the ones I have always had (ego), I give a chance to what you tell me, and … I want to know more.
For a long time I had a predisposition to no. I was a compulsive skeptic, and consequently my inner growth was stagnant for years. The same year that I entered a state of surrender, I went from the predisposition to the no to the predisposition to the maybe, and as a consequence, I experienced an inner growth in just a few months greater than that experienced in decades. Ready then for the three teachings on this Step?
The first. There is nothing that infuriates your ego more than the mere presence of a new belief that conflicts with your current belief. The ego kills because new beliefs do not enter your brain, and not only metaphorically, but literally. The main wars occurred because the enemy thought “differently from me.” Adopting a predisposition to perhaps fighting the systematic predisposition to is not fighting to avoid feeling threatened by different beliefs.
The second. I always believed that the mind is a resource to know what is true and what is false. Today I think that sometimes it can be a barrier. If you only believe what your mind tells you, you will miss one hundred percent of the non-mental dimensions. The sensations of your body, the energy of your environment, the non-cerebral deep intuition, the checks for which the head has no response are channels of information that transcend the mind and there are entire formations that can be studied to better discover each one. If you only believe what the mind can explain, then, had you lived ten centuries earlier, you would have denied 90 percent of what you believe today because science still couldn’t explain it, and yet it was no less true than it is. today. How many questions that science cannot explain today will be explained in five hundred years? Are these questions less true because our minds cannot yet explain them? Are we going to wait for our minds to understand them to believe them?
And the third. If you ask everyone to paint on the same wall, the day you come across a painting of a genius it will be buried among the rest of previous paintings. Better give it a blank wall so you can keep a piece of art. Those graffiti represent your prejudices. The blank wall supposes eliminating prejudices in order to recognize that art. How to know that something is art, that is, truth, and not noise, that is, falsehood? Ask yourself less what makes you think and more what makes you feel (this was something super-difficult for a person as mental as I was), and don’t take anything for granted. Check what results it gives. Analyze the results that belief produces by asking yourself: is this something that seems to be favorable to life or contrary to it?
