Stir or stir (from English stir) – preparation of cocktails in a pre-mixing glass about half filled with ice.
The method is designed for cocktails consisting of easily connected liquids (strong drinks, wines, juices, water). It is used in the case of the preparation of chilled drinks served without ice (for example, Dry Martini) or, if necessary, to ensure the transparency of multi-ingredient cocktails.
All ingredients are mixed in a mixing glass and strained into a serving glass through a strainer. However, it should not be forgotten that in this case, a mandatory exception is made for soda that reacts unpredictably to intensive mixing.
Carbonated drinks are added to the glass only on top of the contents of the mixing glass, after which the resulting cocktail can be mixed again, but is not recommended by professional bartenders.
At the same time, if ice is provided in such a cocktail, then fresh cubes are placed in the serving glass that were not previously used during mixing.
This method involves the use of two methods. The first of them is the building, the second is the strain.
