After a hearty meal, you often want to sleep. This seems to be a natural reaction to satiety. But in reality, whether you feel sleepy after eating depends on your diet.
Some foods make you sleepy.
Sweet
Foods that are high in sugar give a huge boost at first, as blood sugar rises as well. But after half an hour, the sugar level drops sharply, weakness arises and begins to want to sleep.
Avoid eating sweets before important appointments or activities that require strength, such as before exercising.
Dairy produce
With age, the human body can begin to reject milk protein. And since energy begins to be expended on its assimilation in adulthood, after taking dairy products, fatigue and a desire to rest may occur. If you notice such a reaction, alas, you will have to part with dairy products or use them only in the evening, shortly before bedtime.

Bananas contain a lot of magnesium, which makes the nervous system relax and makes you sleepy. Especially if you do not have enough of this element in the body, magnesium will be assimilated favorably. To avoid this effect, bananas are best eaten with other fruits – preferably sour apples or citrus fruits.
Nuts
Another source of high amounts of magnesium. Together with the nervous system, the muscles also relax from magnesium – a slight weakness or even lethargy appears. The record holders for magnesium content are almonds and peanuts. Eat them in the late afternoon, when you have the opportunity to lie down and rest.
Salad leaves
If you think that the more energy the body spends on digestion, the more relaxation and after a light salad of leaves you will definitely be in good shape, you are mistaken. Not getting the necessary calories, vitamins and elements, the body goes into economy mode and drives you to sleep in order to conserve strength. Eat light carbs with heavy protein for the perfect combination!
