“This speaks of the development of medicine in general and of reproductive technologies in particular,” the expert explains. – Mostly for older women, these are the second and subsequent children born using modern methods – IVF or surrogacy. One can argue for a long time how moral, ethical it is, but the growth in the number of mothers at the age is observed from year to year. “
At the same time, the number of early and very early pregnancies is slowly decreasing – in girls from 12 to 18 years old. Last year, for the first time, more than 10,5 thousand underage girls became mothers. A little more than 700 gave birth to their second and subsequent children.
“One of the girls has already had her fifth child,” added Elena Egorova.
In general, in Russia there is a shift towards late births. Now the average age for first birth is about 27 years.
