Starting the dishwasher – how to do it right

You bought a dishwasher, waited for delivery, unpacked and installed. It’s time to read the instructions and learn the rules of use. In our article, you will learn how to properly start the dishwasher, in what sequence to proceed and which programs to choose.

Preparing for launch

Before you turn on the dishwasher Bosch, Siemens, Ariston, Electrolux, Beko or another brand, you need to study the control panel, the rules for loading dishes and detergent. The first run is always a test run. He must clean the hopper from dust, small debris that has accumulated during storage and transportation.

Sequencing:

  • Check the correct installation of the built-in PMM (level, fastenings).
  • Check the quality of the connections, the location of the hoses, the connection to the mains.
  • Open the hopper door. Turn the atomizer at the top and in the pan, unscrew the drain filter, remove the stickers from the walls of the chamber.
  • Prepare a starter or regular starter kit. It includes: detergent (powder, gel, tablets), rinse aid, salt. With detergent, everything is clear: it removes dirt from dishes. Rinse aid is used to give shine to appliances, eliminates streaks and promotes rapid drying. Salt softens the water so that scale does not settle on machine parts. About safe means for PMM, read the article.
  • Take out the salt and pour it into a special container. It is located in the PMM pan, next to the drain filter. Open the lid, fill the container with water and completely cover with salt. Remove excess water with a sponge.
  • Pour the powder into the dispenser compartment. The dosage is indicated in the instructions on the packaging of the product.
  • Rinse aid for the first time can not be added.
  • Close the door tightly, set a long program with a high temperature, press the power button.

What to look for while washing:

  1. How water is poured into the bunker.
  2. Does the water reach the right temperature, does the heater work.
  3. How waste water is drained from the tank.

When you load the dishes, also check the quality of the sink. It usually takes a little time before you find the right dosage of detergents and the right program for you.

How to start a dishwasher with dishes

If the test run is successful, the machine is ready for continuous use. How to load dishes correctly, we wrote in one of the articles.

Let’s analyze the requirements for the inclusion of PMM Gorenje, Whirlpool, Vestel, Zanussi, Hansa along with dishes:

  • Detergent is added once, before each wash. Rinse aid and salt are enough for several times. The indicators on the control panel will inform you about their completion.
  • Clean utensils of food debris before loading.
  • Place dishes at a small distance from each other, otherwise they will not be washed. Large appliances are located in the lower basket, plates in the middle, cups and glasses in the upper (depending on the configuration of the dishwasher). Many models have glass holders. It is important not to overload the baskets, otherwise some appliances will block others, and water will not get to them.
  • Do not place objects in the tray, the atomizer must rotate freely.
  • Close the door and choose the optimal mode to start working, focusing on the degree of soiling and the type of dishes.
  • Do not remove items immediately after washing. Let them cool and dry.
  • Every time clean the drain filter from food debris, check the sprinkler nozzles.

Follow the instructions carefully. The manufacturer indicates which dishes can and cannot be washed in the machine. Otherwise, you risk damaging the devices.

In one of the articles, we wrote that you can wash in the dishwasher. Briefly about what can not be washed:

  1. Aluminum, wood, pewter.
  2. Products from non-heat-resistant plastic. On such vessels, plates should be marked with washing.
  3. Porcelain, crystal.
  4. Cast iron, Teflon coated.
  5. Thermoses, thermomugs.

Often users on the forums ask: is it possible to turn on the dishwasher without salt? It is undesirable to do this, because over time white spots will appear on the dishes, and the parts will become covered with scale and deteriorate.

The correct choice of mode in PMM

Bosch, Electrolux, Hotpoint Ariston, Hansa machines will perfectly cope with the tasks if the user installs a suitable washing program.

Often the consumer chooses the most convenient mode and uses it all the time. This does not take into account the degree of contamination, the material of the products.

Whatever PMM model you use – Siemens, Beko, Kerting, Burning, Ikea – study the programs in the instructions.

  1. Express mode. The program time does not exceed 45 minutes.
  2. Intensive washing at 60-80 degrees. Suitable for heavily soiled items.
  3. The standard program automatically determines the degree of loading, after which it selects the duration and temperature of the wash.
  4. The economy program uses less water and electricity.
  5. Delicate mode is set for fragile dishes.
