History of Staropramen beer

1869 At this time, the demand for beer was growing, so Wilem Pik and Jan Kohout decided to establish a brewery and produce a product that was superior in quality to those available on the market. This is how Staropramen beer was born, which includes Saaz hops, special yeast and barley varieties. In autumn, the construction of the Joint Stock Brewery in Smichov began in Prague.

1871 On May 15, Pavel Kvaiser brewed the first batch of the drink. It was consecrated by the chaplain Laska. Sales started on July 9648th. By the end of the year, the sales volume was equal to XNUMX hectoliters.

1877 The company has some innovations associated with the name of the new brewer Michael Trinka. They influenced Czech beer in general. Trinca created a beer recipe with an alcohol content of 10% and came up with a recipe for a semi-dark Granat beer. This gave a powerful impetus to the development of the enterprise. For 28 years of work at the Trinca plant, he increased production volumes to 500 thousand hectoliters, that is, 10 times. Nobody has been able to do this.

1880 The brewery was visited by the King of Hungary, Franz Joseph I. He liked the products, and he left a review in a book containing the history of the enterprise.

1914-1918: A significant part of the workforce left the plant, the equipment was militarized. The brewery was in crisis. The line was reduced to 4-6 varieties. After the end of the war, the situation did not improve. There were few raw materials, not all qualified employees were able to start work, some components had to be replaced.

1933-1937: The volume of sales increased to 800 thousand, which made the plant the largest in Czechoslovakia by 1933. The new brewer was Josef Paspa, who modernized the technical component of the plant. The number of technical inventions increased, the number of breweries became 5, new steel tanks were installed for the boiler room and fermentation chamber.

1953 The company entered the international market. Products appeared on the Austrian, German, Swiss and American shelves. This provided an increase in popularity and sales volumes, respectively. For 7 years they have grown to 1 million hectoliters.

1950-1980: During this period, no qualitative changes took place, because a communist regime was established in Czechoslovakia. It was in the interests of the state to develop heavy and mining industries. Nevertheless, the inhabitants did not forget about beer and remained the nation that consumed it in the largest quantities per person.

1989 The company has undergone changes in the field of economy. Innovations have been introduced. So the company always remained one step ahead of other breweries.

1992 Beer was first bottled in kegs. They are usually a steel container in which drinks are kept and transported. They are barrel shaped.

1999 The Russian company LLC “TransMark” has acquired a license for the right to manufacture. Starting next year, the Kaluga Brewing Company started producing beer.

2003 The company “SUN Interbrew” also had the right to manufacture. The first batch was produced by a brewery in Klinsk. Experts carefully monitor the quality, so the taste of the Czech pilsner remains unchanged.

2003 The company changed its name from Prazsky pivovary to Pivovary Staropramen.

2006 Glass containers of the NRW type are no longer used in production. Now the beer was sold in multipacks and barrels with the possibility of self-cooling.

2011 The volume of production exceeded 3 million hectoliters of beer.

2012 The brand was acquired by American brewing giant Molson Coors.

2020 The quality of this beer can be appreciated by residents of more than 38 countries around the world. The brand is confidently moving into the future, following its own production path, using modern technologies and innovations.
