Material selection, from which the sink will be executed, is the priority task. As before, stainless steel keeps the palm in popularity among buyers: durable, lightweight and inexpensive sinks. However, glass and iron objects in these sinks create a lot of noise, so choose a model with a sound absorber under the sink (soft gasket glued to the bottom).

Enamelled cast iron sinks or pressed steel sinks are also rare. The main drawback is known to everyone – the enamel is easily chipped off. These models are resistant to temperature effects and corrosion, but be careful when choosing cleaning agents – only liquid, no abrasives are suitable.

Modern ceramic sinks are very resistant to scratches, corrosion and chips, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.

Corian and montelli are the main types of artificial stone. Environmentally friendly material of the XXI century: does not absorb water, grease, dirt. Unlike natural stone, it does not emit toxins, but its hardness is equal to marble. The scratch can be removed with an abrasive cleaner or very fine sandpaper. It is expensive, but rightfully considered an eternal material.

Asterite is a durable, colored quartz and resin material. Resistant to temperature influences, scratches and corrosion. Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic with little or no deformation. Heat resistant and noise absorbing. Fradura is a composite material of glass and mineral rocks with a dense structure, extremely resistant to high temperatures and corrosion.

Useful add-ons can be in the form:

  • cutting board. Closes the sink when not in use. Increasing the size of the work surface, it is indispensable in small kitchens.
  • mesh dryer and mesh to protect the sink surface from damage. Both are installed in the basin of the sink and are used for their intended purpose: the washed dishes are put on the first, the second will protect the unstable material from scratches and chips.
  • built-in dispenser – containers for detergent, which greatly facilitates the process of washing dishes.

In addition, when buying a sink, you should immediately take care of purchasing the entire plumbing kit, which includes a drain, siphon, overflow, mixer, etc. A very useful and simple invention is a disposer (household waste shredder). With it, you will forget about the problem of clogged pipes, leaking garbage bags, the unpleasant smell of waste waste and insects attracted by them.

Thus, we learned that the kitchen sink is now not just a place for washing dishes, but a whole multifunctional center, where most of the kitchen work is done faster and more conveniently. And by making the right choice, you will save time for more interesting activities.
