Although dry seeds are not yet a source of health, a little water is enough to reveal a lot of nutritional value in combination with the warmth that surrounds them. Sprouts deserve special attention due to the content of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Sprouts can be found both in supermarkets and in ordinary grocery stores. Before buying, let’s take a look at whether mold has entered them, or if they do not give the impression that a putrefactive process has begun on them. Among the store’s assortment, let’s look for those that are still fresh. It is believed that sprouts for 3-6 days have the greatest properties. Since this product does not have a long shelf life, it is usually sourced from local farms.

Own production of vitamins

If for some reason we would prefer to grow the sprouts we intend to eat on our own, let’s take a closer look at the seeds that have information that they are intended for sprouts. Let’s give a wide berth to seeds indicated for cultivation in the ground, as they are most likely impregnated with chemicals. For our use, a tablespoon of seeds poured into a jar wrapped in gauze is enough. Place the jar so that the water drains. We protect the sprouts from excess water, rinse in the morning and in the evening.

  • Particularly noteworthy are alfalfa sprouts, which are rich in vitamins A, C and E and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9, as well as potassium, manganese, sulfur, selenium, copper, sodium, phosphorus, silicon, zinc, magnesium, iron and calcium. They provide lecithin, beta-carotene, protein, fiber, saponins and chlorophyll. They can be safely consumed by people who cannot tolerate iron-fortified supplements. They strengthen our immunity, normalize cholesterol levels, have a beneficial effect on memory and appetite
  • On the other hand, beetroot sprouts, rich in betacyanin, prevent cancer. This type of sprouts will also protect us against acidification of the body, anemia and hypertension. They do not lack vitamins A, B1 and C and minerals such as magnesium, iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, ruby ​​or cesium.
  • In turn, sunflower sprouts will improve the appearance of the skin, reduce the likelihood of headaches and stabilize blood pressure. They are a valued source of protein, unsaturated fats, iron and vitamins C and E.
