It will certainly appear on the Easter table in the form of decorations and additions to dishes, so it’s worth getting to know its main advantages. Cress can be grown very simply, at home, on lignin. Delicious, slightly spicy and rich in valuable vitamins and trace elements, it is a great addition to many dishes!
It has an original, slightly spicy taste and although it looks inconspicuous, it can be successfully used in many areas. It works well both in cleansing the body, strengthening the body and has a good effect on beauty. In ancient times, it was used to disinfect the mouth and digestive tract, as well as for ulcers and intestinal parasites. It may come as a surprise that it is closely related to cabbage, and in Poland there are as many as nine of its species: e.g. meadow, aquatic for breeding in the aquarium, as well as the most important – edible garden variety.
A wealth of vitamins and minerals
Consuming cress is recommended for certain diseases: osteoporosis, because it is second in terms of calcium content after hazelnuts (it will be a good solution especially for people intolerant to lactose), hypothyroidism, because it is a source of easily absorbed iodine, and diabetes, because it contains chromium supporting the proper work of the pancreas and lowers the level of sugar in the blood.
In addition, watercress has a lot of vitamin C, so it should be part of the diet of smokers. People addicted to smoking have a deficiency of this antioxidant, so they should reach for this plant as often as possible. It also contains vitamins: A, B, PP, K, as well as numerous mineral salts and elements: iron and magnesium. It is worth eating it by pregnant women, children, people suffering from anemia, coronary artery disease, rheumatic ailments and circulatory disorders.
A way to beauty and cleanse the body
In addition to its medicinal properties, watercress will be good for your beauty as it contains a lot of sulfur. As you know, sulfur is irreplaceable in strengthening hair, preventing hair loss, and strengthening bulbs. In addition, cress cleanses the blood, so it will be helpful in the treatment of acne, seborrhea and other skin problems.
What’s more, this small inconspicuous plant exceeds many vegetables with its nutritional values, so it will successfully replace some of them. It has a diuretic effect, which is why it is indicated for kidney diseases.
