The spring lovage (yellow goose, gooseberry, Adonis vernalis L.) is a perennial protected plant. It rarely grows in the southern highlands. Grown in gardens as an ornamental and herbal plant. It blooms in spring – from late April to early May.
All parts of the plant are poisonous, fresh and dried. It is more poisonous during flowering. The poisons of spring love act mainly on the heart and digestive tract.
Symptoms of poisoning
There is nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain, bitterness in the mouth. In severe poisoning, cardiac disorders similar to those found in lily of the valley poisoning, shock (drop in blood pressure, increased heart rate, disturbance of tissue flow), convulsions.
First aid
Unabsorbed poison should be removed from the gastrointestinal tract. Further treatment in the hospital.
