Spring fragrances, reviews
Selective perfumery in translation from Latin means “selection of the best”. The Woman’s Day editorial team tested niche perfumes to talk about their features.
Teo Cabanel, Early Roses, 8400 rubles
Vasilisa Kakorina, beauty editor:
– Niche perfumery as a key to the world of magic. I have many favorite fragrances, from the most inexpensive to the luxurious selective ones. The light and graceful Early Roses by Teo Cabanel have their place on my scent shelf.
Appearance: bright bottle with a pink bow. What else does the girl want?
Notes.
Top notes: rose petals, a note of morning dew, young jasmine. Heart note: Bulgarian rose, pink pepper, jasmine. Base notes: musk, amber, woody notes.
Reality: the first impression of the fragrance is like a sweet, even slightly honeyed perfume with a little peppercorn, but after a few minutes a jasmine accord is revealed. At the same time, a delicate and bright aroma justifies its name – an early rose. This perfume will warm you on cold days and refresh you at a summer party.
Annick Gouta, l Vent De Folie, about 9000 rubles for 100 ml
Nastya Obukhova, editor of the Fashion and Shopping section:
– I didn’t hear anything about the Annick Goutal brand until I saw a cozy boutique in Paris, filled with beautiful bottles. Since then, I dreamed of trying something from their collection, but there was no such opportunity until I got the fragrance Vent De Folie for testing.
Appearance: eau de toilette is sharpened in an elegant ribbed bottle in a vintage style, like all the brand’s perfumes. The decor is interesting, but at the same time not “rich”. I love brevity. The bottle is adorned with an ivory cord with a tag with the name of the fragrance.
Notes: top notes: red orange, black currant, raspberry; heart notes: sweet peas, geranium, hedione molecule; base notes: powdery notes, white musk, cedar bark.
Reality: The scent struck me as pretty sweet, floral, but not stuffy. An hour after application, it becomes fresher, less saturated. At the same time, I would not say that Vent De Folie is persistent. By the evening, he practically disappears. To be honest, I practically do not feel it from the very morning, which means that the perfume suited me perfectly.
Jardins d’Ecrivain, Gigi, about 6000 rubles
Yulia Gaponova, managing editor:
– With the arrival of the long-awaited spring days, I really want to pick up a new bright aroma that will emphasize the sunny mood and wrap it with a pleasant trail all day. I have already switched to niche perfumery a long time ago; I only change fragrances depending on the season. When I first came across the Jardins d’Ecrivains perfume, I was overjoyed – maybe this is the very scent that is perfect for spring?
Appearance: Everything I love: a 100 ml bottle of a laconic, strict design, quite convenient to use and worthy of fitting into the line of bottles on my dressing table. According to the idea of the French house of niche fragrances Jardins d’Ecrivains, this perfume (released for the first time in 2013) embodies the character of the main heroine of the novel Colette – a mischievous beauty who easily seduces all, even the most unassailable, men.
Notes: Top notes: white flowers, neroli, herbal notes. Heart notes: orange, jasmine, tuberose, black currant. Base notes: musk, sandalwood.
Reality: Gigi by Jardins d’Ecrivains is an amazing floral scent, created, in my opinion, for young girls. The composition is quite complex, opening its sound with top notes of grass, neroli and orange blossom, passing into notes of black currant and jasmine and finishing the sound with chords of sandalwood and musk. In fact, at first I was a little confused by the bitter herbal sound, but this is only because I prefer sweeter aromas. But after a while I felt a harmonious combination of bright tuberose and enchanting jasmine and realized that this interesting composition would clearly take root among my favorites. The perfume is quite persistent and lasts all day long, gradually revealing itself with numerous mesmerizing accords.
Jacques Zolty, Lily Beach, 5850 rubles
Olga Frolova, build editor:
– I have never heard of the Jacques Zolty perfume brand before. As often happens to me, I just took the most beautiful, in my opinion, bottle of all presented for testing.
It turned out that Jacques Zolty is a photographer and actor who was popular in the 70s. After many years of travel, he settled on the island of millionaires of Saint Barthélemy, which, as they say, won his heart with silence and serenity. The years on the island inspired Jacques to create a line of fragrances. There are 5 of them in total.
Notes: Lily Beach belongs to the floral woody musk group. The description says that the aromas of luxurious flowers, which grow exclusively in the paradise of Saint Barthélemy, were taken as a basis. Top notes: ivy, clove, cardamom and ginger; heart note: white lily; base notes: white cedar and musk.
Reality: I really liked the scent, despite the fact that my associations are completely different from those of the creator. For me, it does not smell of either luxury or beaches, and perhaps this is for the best. At first, it reveals the freshness inherent in Kenzo fragrances, with a barely noticeable peppercorn of cloves, and then lily and the warmth of musk remain on the skin. The ideal scenery for this fragrance for me is a warm May evening, long blue twilight and the smell of blossoming greenery. And it’s great that spring has finally arrived in the city – the best time for this perfume.
Creed, Spring Flower, 12 805 rubles
Victoria De, Deputy Chief Editor:
– Most admirers of this perfume line appreciate Creed perfumes for their brightness, tenderness and airiness. Creed Spring Flower is no exception. The fragrance has millions of fans. And yet, few people know that it was these perfumes that were not originally created for mass production. In the 80s it was developed specifically for … (attention!) Audrey Hepburn, and only in 1996 Spring Flower appeared on store shelves.
Appearance: bright matte pink bottle immediately attracts attention.
Notes: top notes: apricot, melon, peach, green apple, pear; middle notes: jasmine, rose; base notes: amber, musk.
Reality: I have a strong belief that a good scent is one that you do not feel a few minutes after application. It should, as it were, merge with your own scent and create a unique range, mysterious and alluring. Creed passed this test. Immediately after application, I felt a light and delicate scent of jasmine, and after a few minutes I simply forgot about it. But my family members immediately felt the difference and praised the choice! And colleagues did not disregard the new perfume. And this praise, believe me, is expensive! An excellent aroma, which is extremely necessary for every fashionista in the spring and summer.
