The Finnish-American company Blue Fox was founded in 1977 and is a subsidiary of Rapala. Known all over the world for its original lures. Blue Fox spinners are famous for their catchability, versatility and workmanship. Probably, any modern spinning player has at least one spinner of this company in his tackle box.
Blue Fox produces spinners, oscillating lures, silicone lures, spinnerbaits and attractants. But still, spinners are the most popular. In our country, Blue Fox turntables catch pike, perch, as well as various types of salmon fish.
Appearance and characteristics of Blue Fox spinners
Spinners have an original appearance that cannot be confused with any other spinner.
The first thing that catches your eye is the cone-shaped zinc core with serifs, reminiscent of a bell. When posting, it creates low-frequency sounds in the water that attract fish even from long distances.
The petal of the spinner has an oblong shape and a logo on the outside. The angle of rotation of the lobe relative to the axis is 45 degrees. Due to this, the spinner has a high rotational speed and plays stably both with fast and slow wiring.
The axis of the spinner is made of durable stainless steel, and all other elements are made of brass. Therefore, all Blue Fox lures are durable and not afraid of corrosion.
Hooks of some models are equipped with plumage. The edge creates additional windage, so that it can be driven downstream.
Spinners are in second place in popularity. There are much fewer of them in the company’s assortment than rotating ones, but they are no less catchy. Blue Fox spinners have proven themselves well when catching large pike and taimen.
Choice of color for Blue Fox lures
The correct color of the lure is the color that the fish are biting at in that location. Therefore, the color of the spinner must be chosen for a specific body of water. But still there are some rules that will help when fishing in an unfamiliar place. The colors of Blue Fox lures are divided into 3 categories:
- Natural colors (for perch, roach and other fish). These flowers are best caught in clear water.
- Acid colors (Orange, red, yellow, purple and others). These colors work well when fishing in troubled waters.
- Matte colors are good to catch in sunny weather.
This scheme is universal, but it does not always work. It is better to have products of different colors with you in order to empirically select the most catchy in a particular case.
Blue Fox for perch fishing
Perch, as a rule, do not like large lures, so lures up to 3 numbers are suitable for it. Thanks to the acoustic effect of the Blue Fox lure, it attracts perches from long distances, and the fast-rotating lobe gives a stable game when fishing. After all, it is known that perch loves noise, so catching it on these spinners is very simple.
The most catchy models for perch:
- Super Vibrax
- Vibrax Original
- Matrixx Spoon
Blue Fox for pike
When catching pike, you should not waste time on trifles and you can safely put spinners from 3 to 6 numbers. It is possible that a lace barely larger than the tackle itself can sit on number 6. But still, the larger the size, the higher the likelihood that a trophy specimen will bite.
The most catchy models for pike:
- Lucius
- Girls
- Super Vibrax
- Vibrax Original
- Matrixx Spoon

Review of the most popular models
Blue Fox Super Vibrax
The Blue Fox Super Vibrax series is perhaps the most popular in our country. They catch both pike with perch and taimen with grayling on these turntables. Works both shallow and at depth, as well as on a rocky bottom, when stable bait play is especially important. In terms of weight, Super Vibrax is significantly heavier than products from other manufacturers of the same number. Therefore, it has not only range, but also a decent depth.
Blue Fox Vibrax Original
The bait with which the glory of Blue Fox began. Universal lure, perfectly catches perch, pike, asp, salmon fish. Plays stably even on the slowest wires. Available in 3 basic colors – silver, gold and copper. On number 6, taimen is perfectly caught.
Blue Fox Minnow Super Vibrax
Long-range and catchy, especially good for light spinning. The model with a red core and a silver petal perfectly catches perch and medium-sized pike. In addition, lenok, grayling, trout, as well as peaceful fish are perfectly caught on the Minnow Super Vibrax. Works at any speed – from the smallest to the fastest. Working depth – from 0.5 meters to 1.5 meters. Does not fail during the rotation of the petal, even with the slowest postings.
Blue Fox Lucius
Blue Fox Lucius is one of the best spinners for catching large pike. Available in both single hook and double hook versions. There is a red cambric on the hook – it is at it that the fish aims when attacking. It has a protective collar, thanks to which the hooks do not catch on hard grass and snags, and it is in such places that the pike likes to ambush. But the presence of a collar does not affect the hookiness at all, so you should not worry about hooking.
This spinner works great on medium to fast flowing waters. The most versatile are models weighing 26 grams. Due to the thin and wide shape, the spinner has an original game. With slow wiring with pauses, it begins to “crumble” or go to the side. And when fast – fluctuate widely. Therefore, a different game during wiring is a big plus for this spinner. It is best to catch it in the bottom layers, using uniform wiring with pauses.
Blue Fox Piker
Another pike killer. This spinner is specially designed for pike fishing. In appearance, it resembles its main competitor – Mepps Lusox. But Lusox has a big minus – a weak core. After a large number of bites, it can bend, and the game of the spinner will not change for the better. Piker does not have such a problem, since there is a protective silicone tube on its axis. When biting, it protects the axis from deformation, so that the game of the spinner will always remain stable.
Blue Fox Matrixx Spoon
This is a fairly new spinner, but it has already gained popularity among anglers. Originally designed for trolling, it is also great for shore fishing. The body of the spinner is made of brass and has an oblong shape. Has good range. Due to its slanting shape, the bait plays sweepingly and shows itself best when fishing on rivers. Suitable for perch, pike and salmon fishing.
Blue Fox Esox
This lure is ideal for pike fishing in stagnant waters or slow flowing rivers. Thanks to the contrasting colors, red tail and sweeping game, it attracts fish from afar. Her strong point is slow wiring. On large reservoirs, for example, on reservoirs, trophy perch can also peck at large baits.
How to distinguish original Blue Fox spinners from fakes
Blue Fox spinners are so popular that they are faked by everyone who is not lazy. Of course, the lion’s share of fakes are made in China. The price of copies is several times lower than the original and the quality of fakes is very different. For example, you can purchase two spinners that are identical in appearance, but they will play differently. Therefore, it is better to buy an original lure and be sure that it will catch fish, and not just grass with snags.
But it happens that fakes are sold at the price of the original. You can distinguish one from the other by the following features:
- The serial number must be stamped on the back of the petal of the original product, if it is not there, it is a fake.
- Unlike the original, the petal of the copy is made of ordinary steel. Such steel is subject to corrosion and soon it simply begins to rust.
- There is no barcode on the fake packaging indicating the country of manufacture and place of assembly.
- Fake ones do not work well at medium and slow wiring speeds. The petal starts sticking and the game crashes. Original spinners work with any wiring.
- The declared weight does not correspond to the real one. It can be either more or less than stated. For original spinners, the weight always corresponds to the data on the package.
