Spin mop: do you need a bucket? Video

The mop has already ceased to be associated with a T-shaped stick around which a doormat is wound. Now in hardware stores and supermarkets, there is a large assortment of floor cleaning devices that have already earned the trust of housewives. And spin mops are not the last in this row.

spin mops have a number of advantages that facilitate and simplify the process of wet cleaning: – no need to wet your hands in dirty water and use gloves; – no need to bend over while washing the floor; – spin does not require physical effort, so even a child or a person with weak hands.

However, according to user reviews, for some mops, the mechanism does not always allow you to squeeze the washing attachment dry, and in such cases, excess moisture may remain on the floor, which forms stains during drying.

One of the most common types of wring mops is the sponge roller design with a roller wring mechanism. The sponge, from which the attachments for such mops are made, absorbs water very well and it is convenient for it to wipe up liquid spilled on the floor, in addition, it perfectly collects dust and fine dirt, so that it can even wipe an un-swept floor with it. Sponge mops are also available with a butterfly wringing mechanism (the nozzle folds in half).

A dry mop sponge is tough and non-ductile and must be soaked before using it for the first time. It will take 30-40 minutes. If you use the mop daily or every other day, the sponge will stay soft. If the break between cleanings is 3-5 days, the nozzle will harden again, but it will not take much time to re-soak: the sponge is saturated with water in 3-5 minutes.

This type of mop is a good option for quick daily cleaning. To wipe the floor in the kitchen or in the hallway, just moisten the mop before use, and after cleaning, put it under running water for a few seconds and squeeze

Another popular type of squeeze mop is the flounder (flat head mop). The design of the flounders has a special hinge, thanks to which the mop platform rotates. This allows you to clean the floor in hard-to-reach places, treat walls and even ceilings, and the attachments can be changed and machine washed. With some types of these mops, you can select the desired spin level.

The automatic wringer is not an integral part of the flounder design, there are similar-looking models that need to be wrung out manually

Kits for cleaning the floor with a spin

Another solution that saves the hostess from the need to wring out the mop head by hand is floor cleaning kits, where the wringer is not in the mop itself, but in a water bucket.

The easiest option is a mesh insert in the bucket, which allows you to wring out the rope mops in it. Although this kind of wringing allows you not to get your hands dirty, it nevertheless requires skill and physical effort: otherwise, the nozzle will remain very wet.

There are also more complex designs, where rinsing and spinning are performed automatically: just place the mop in the compartment and press the pedal.
