The spider mite on eggplant is a dangerous pest that can completely destroy plants and crops. The most effective way to get rid of it are chemicals. In addition to them, you can use folk methods of protecting plants from insects.
How to identify a pest
The spider mite is an insect no larger than 0,5 mm in size. It is almost impossible to determine it with the naked eye.
The following signs indicate the appearance of a pest:
- the appearance of light dots on the leaves of eggplant;
- the leaf plate of affected plants resembles a marble surface;
- gradually the tops of eggplant dry up;
- a web appears under the bush.
At first, the spider mite feeds on eggplant juice, however, over time, it passes to the fruits. If timely measures are not taken, the plant will die within two weeks.

- temperature rise to 26°C;
- indicators of air humidity up to 55%.

Chemicals
The most effective way to deal with spider mites on eggplant is to use chemicals. These include drugs whose action is aimed at the destruction of the pest. Before use, you need to read the instructions.
Phytoverm
The drug Fitoverm acts on the basis of aversectin, which paralyzes pests. The tool does not affect the eggs of the tick, so re-treatment is mandatory.
Fitoverm is not used with other drugs directed against ticks. The action of the main substance begins a few hours after treatment, when the nervous system of pests is paralyzed.
After processing from a spider mite on eggplants in a greenhouse, the drug retains its properties for 20 days. In open ground with heavy precipitation, dew and high humidity, this period is reduced to 6 days.

Another option than to process eggplant from spider mites is Actellik. The drug acts on pests by the intestinal contact method. Depending on the weather conditions and the period of development, ticks die within a few minutes or hours.
After processing, the action of Aktellik persists for 2 weeks. Processing is carried out in the absence of rain and wind, at an ambient temperature of +12 to +25°C.
The consumption of the drug is determined from the norm of 1 liter of solution for every 10 sq. m. When used in open ground, the specified rate is doubled.
Neoron
Neoron is a drug whose action is directed against various types of ticks. The tool copes with the pest at all stages of its development, from the larva to the adult. Partially, the drug affects the laying of the tick.
Eggplant has always been treated with chemicals on the leaf. Neoron can be used with non-alkaline preparations. Its action lasts for 10-40 days, depending on external conditions. The death of insects occurs within a few hours after contact with the treated plants.
Doesn’t count
The drug is available in the form of a white or light brown powder. Sunmite acts on various types of mites, including spider mites.
The active substance of the drug is pyridaben, which causes paralysis of insects. It is recommended to use the drug on a cloudy day, since its active ingredient is destroyed in direct sunlight.
The tool acts on ticks, regardless of the stage of development and is not addictive in insects. The effect of using Sunmite is observed already 15 minutes after treatment.
To solve the question of how to get rid of the spider mite, a working solution is being prepared. It is obtained by dissolving 1 g of the substance in 1 liter of water. Processing is carried out in a sheet way.
Colloidal sulfur
With the help of colloidal sulfur, you can stop the spread of spider mites. The substance is not applied during the eggplant flowering period. The last treatment is carried out at least three days before harvest.
To combat spider mites on eggplant, a solution is prepared containing 40 g of the substance and 5 liters of water. First, colloidal sulfur is diluted with a small amount of water, thoroughly triturated and mixed.
0,5 l of water is added to the resulting mass and mixed until a solution of a homogeneous consistency is obtained. Then add the remaining 4,5 liters of water. When working with colloidal sulfur gloves are used.
Folk methods
In addition to the basic methods of getting rid of the pest, you can use folk remedies. They are safe for plants and the entire environment. They can be used to prevent the spread of ticks on eggplant.
The most effective are the following folk remedies:
- Soap solution. To prepare it, you need 10 liters of warm water and 200 g of soap. It is recommended to grind the soap first. The remedy is infused for 3 hours. The treatment is carried out by spraying the eggplant every week.
- decoction of tobacco leaves. Dried leaves in the amount of 50 g are poured with a liter of water and put on a slow fire. The resulting broth is diluted in equal proportions with water and used for spraying plants.
- Onion infusion. 0,2 kg of onion peel is placed in a bucket of water. The tool is prepared for 5 days, after which it is used to combat spider mites.
- Garlic infusion. Two heads of garlic need to be crushed, then pour one liter of water. The infusion is prepared for several days. Before use, the product is diluted with water in equal proportions.
- Hot pepper solution. 0,1 kg of hot pepper, previously crushed, is added to a liter of water.
Preventive measures
To prevent the spread of spider mites, following simple measures will allow:
- timely removal of weeds;
- maintaining humidity in the greenhouse at 85%;
- between greenhouses there should be a distance of more than 1 m to avoid the spread of the pest across the site;
- a wide space is left between rows with eggplants;
- periodically loosen and mulch the soil;
- regularly water the plants;
- inspect eggplants in order to identify the tick in time.
