Semen, otherwise known as semen, is a liquid, cloudy, white, milky discharge. Sperm is produced by the male body with the participation of the testes, epididymis, seminal vesicles, the prostate gland and the bulbourethral glands.

Sperm is a discharge produced in men in the epididymis, prostate, bulbourethral glands, and seminal vesicles. It has a reproductive function, due to the sperm it contains. Introducing sperm into the vagina enables the sperm cells to fertilize an egg.

Sperm production takes approximately 2 months. This is the period during which sperm travels from the testicles, through the epididymis, vas deferens, and seminal vesicles. Sperm ejaculates through the urethra in a state of greatest sexual arousal, during sex or masturbation.

The color of the sperm is generally pearl gray. It can change its color under the influence of various medical conditions or diet. If the color of sperm is intense yellow and it is accompanied by pain while urinating, you should see a urologist immediately, as these may be symptoms of an infection.

To improve the taste of sperm:

  1. you should drink plenty of water,
  2. the consumption of onions and garlic should be limited,
  3. you should avoid stimulants such as coffee, cigarettes or alcohol,
  4. it is worth reaching for more fruits, e.g. apples, pineapples or peaches, which give the seed a sweet aftertaste,
  5. Red meat consumption should be limited.

The taste of sperm can tell a lot about a man’s health and whether he is concerned about hygiene.

Sperm in the fertilization process

During ejaculation and erection of the penis, semen is ejected through the urethra. Sperm mobility, and thus their effectiveness and viability, supports the slightly alkaline reaction of the suspension (pH 7,2). In the case of acidic pH, the effectiveness of sperm cells would drop dramatically due to their low mobility in such conditions.

The most important component of sperm are sperm, i.e. male gametes, which, when introduced into the woman’s vagina, can connect with the egg and fertilize it. As they move through the fallopian tube, they compete with each other because only one sperm reaches the egg and the egg begins to produce a cover that prevents polyspermia, i.e. more sperm from being added to it.

Sperm – composition

Sperm is less than 1 percent. semen composition, which is mainly constituted by: water, fructose, vitamin C and B12, selenium, putrescine, cholesterol, lipids, magnesium, calcium and various enzymes. The sperm also contains the antioxidant spermine, used, for example, in cosmetology to smooth the skin. The smell and taste of the sperm is caused by cadaverine, and not, as is commonly believed, by the consumed products, e.g. pineapple.

During ejaculation, the male body produces an average of 4 to 7 milliliters of sperm, which contains up to 500 million sperm. According to research, about 12 percent. women are allergic to sperm ingredients that can be modified, among others diet, which at the same time does not prevent pregnancy, due to the lack of allergy to sperm. Skin irritation or rash may be signs of this type of allergy.

The properties of sperm are an issue on which many scientists around the world are still concerned. There is a theory that it is even a cure for depression because it contains serotonin. Moreover, some say that thanks to the melatonin present in it, sperm helps you fall asleep. Sperm is said to also prevent tooth decay and lower blood pressure because it contains zinc and calcium.

Nevertheless, it still cannot be said that sperm is a natural antidepressant. Much research on it is carried out using insufficient research methods. The antidepressant properties of sperm are questionable as there is too little serotonin, zinc and calcium in the semen.

Sperm production is closely related to the diet. If it lacks essential nutrients, then the amount of semen will be lower. A man’s diet should therefore include B and E vitamins. Regular supplementation of zinc, magnesium and selenium is equally important. Many doctors recommend that you also include l-arginine in your diet.

Legumes such as lentils, beans and peas are a rich source of zinc. In addition to them, the element can also be found in sesame and wild rice. Interestingly, mushrooms are one of the richest sources of zinc. 500 grams of mushrooms is about 40% of the RDA for an ingredient and is beneficial for sperm production and, moreover, for strengthening the body.

B and E vitamins are responsible for the proper course of spermogenesis. The ingredients can be found, among others in fish, nuts, eggs and dairy products. It is also possible to supplement the vitamin deficiency with supplements that can be found in pharmacies. It is also worth getting capsules or powder with l-arginine.

We can replenish magnesium by consuming legumes, rice, bananas, beef or pistachios. Oatmeal and various groats are also rich in it. Selenium, also a key element in sperm production, can also be found in, for example, buckwheat. However, the best source of selenium is incl. turkey meat. What’s more, this element not only accelerates sperm production, but also strengthens the immune system and regulates the thyroid gland.

Sperm banks and sperm preservation

Research on the preservation of semen, its conservation, and then restoration of properties, had been going on since the 40s. Only 30 years later there was a real breakthrough in this field with the use of thick glycerol, which prolonged the life of the semen.

Today, chicken egg yolk and citric acid are also added to this compound. The substance created in this way, operating under the name GEYC, contributes to the survival of up to 60 percent. sperm after several years from their placement in the sperm bank. The first center of this type was opened in the French hospital Le Kremlin-Bicetre in 1973.

There are still many myths regarding the influence of lifestyle on sperm quality. One of them is that frequent use of the microwave can lower a man’s fertility. Meanwhile, what can actually worsen sperm quality is more prosaic. I am talking about long, warm baths and riding a bike with a hard, sporty saddle.

Sperm quality also degrades during intense sex and dehydration. It has also been shown that the sons of women who consumed a lot of beef during pregnancy produce less sperm when they reach puberty. Growth hormones, which are used excessively in cattle breeding, may be responsible for this condition.

Contrary to popular belief, despite the nutrient content, the consumption of ejaculate does not benefit health, and the sperm itself is nutritionally neutral for the body. Despite direct sperm competition in humans, scientists have proven that in specific situations in rodents, a male’s sperm can cooperate with each other, competing with the sperm of another who has intercourse with the same partner.

Spermine can be found in many high-end cosmetics, such as masks, cleansing gels and face creams. Moreover, some beauty salons offer rejuvenating treatments with the use of sperm.
  2. About 12% of women worldwide are allergic to sperm. This allergy is sometimes only itching and rash and sometimes leads to anaphylactic shock. However, this problem is not unique to women. It is also struggling with men whose allergic reaction to sperm occurs immediately after ejaculation and lasts up to several hours / days.
  3. Historical medical records say that Hitler had bed problems. Doctors tried to help him by administering bull sperm injections (however, there is no information on the effectiveness of this method).
