Specialty IPA

It is very diverse both in color, and in raw materials, and in bouquet. The main distinguishing feature is a pronounced hop profile, dryness, obvious bitterness in the bouquet. Despite the increased strength, it is easy to drink. An American IPA is often taken as the base, then everything depends only on the manufacturer’s imagination: there is even a seasonal green Indian ale released for the Irish holiday of St. Patrick.

The beer can be either clear or hazy, usually forming a copious foam. In the bouquet, hops are most clearly felt, the malt profile only sets it off, sometimes a yeasty aftertaste is felt.

Specialty IPA – light to medium bodied, soft, moderately carbonated.

It is divided into three subspecies:

  • Session (3.0-5.0%);
  • Standard (5.0-7.5%);
  • Double (7.5-10%).
