Spamilan – composition, application, dosage and side effects

Spamilane is a prescription anti-anxiety drug. The company EGIS Polska Sp. Z oo is responsible for the production of the drug. z o. o. Spamilan is produced in the form of tablets (60 pieces) in two doses: 5 mg and 10 mg.

The active substance and action of Spamilan

The active substance in Spamilan is buspirone (5 or 10 mg). It is an organic chemical compound from the group of azapirones with an anxiolytic, i.e. anxiolytic effect. Buspirone is not used to treat panic attacks. This is due to its very long duration of action, which reaches up to two weeks. The other ingredients of Spamilan are: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, sodium carboxymethyl starch type A, magnesium sterate and colloidal anhydrous silica.

Use of the product Spamilan

Spamilane is used to relieve the symptoms of anxiety with or without depression and in the short-term treatment of anxiety disorders.

Contraindications to the use of Spamilan

Certain diseases and the concurrent use of other drugs may contraindicate the use or change the dosage of the drug. Sometimes it is necessary to carry out a checkup beforehand. In case of any doubts or problems, please contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Spamilan cannot be used if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of its ingredients. In addition to the above preparation, people who suffer from epilepsy or severe renal failure, and if there are or have suffered from severe liver disease, should not take the preparation. The drug should also not be used by people suffering from acute intoxication with alcohol, sleeping pills, painkillers or antipsychotics. Before starting treatment with Spamilan, we should notify the doctor if we suffer from diseases such as glaucoma, myasthenia gravis or impaired kidney and liver function. In the case of addiction to drugs, drugs or taking drugs from the benzodiazepine group (e.g. tamazepam), we should necessarily inform the doctor about this fact. We should inform the doctor about all medications currently and recently taken, and in particular if we are taking medications used to treat, for example: infection, high blood pressure, depression and anxiety disorders, heart failure, mental illness, migraine, anxiety, nausea and vomiting or blood thinners . It is forbidden to drink alcohol while taking Spamilan and we should avoid drinking grapefruit juice.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, children, driving and operating machinery

The use of any drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding must always be consulted with a physician who is able to assess the benefits and risks of taking a given drug. Spamilan should not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and it must not be taken by children and adolescents. Spamilan may make you feel sleepy or dizzy, so before driving or using machines, you should make sure that you do not have these symptoms.

How should I dose Spamilan?

The dosage of the drug is determined only by a doctor or pharmacist. It is forbidden to exceed the recommended dose. In case of any doubts or problems, please contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Always take the tablets at the same time of the day, preferably during or immediately after meals. You should not stop using Spamilane on your own, even if you do not notice a visible improvement. Before this, talk to your doctor who will decide on further treatment.

Recommended dosage for adults: the usual daily dose is 15-30 mg per day in divided doses. The maximum daily dose is 60 mg.

Possible side effects and side effects

All medicines can cause certain side effects, but not every person can experience them. In the event of any problems, see a doctor immediately. If you develop a rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue, and difficulty breathing, contact your doctor or hospital immediately, as these are symptoms caused by an allergy to any of the ingredients of Spamilan.

Examples of more common side effects include dizziness, headache, sleepiness or insomnia, impaired concentration, depression, anger, impaired coordination of movements, faster heartbeat, chest pain, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, and vomiting.

Examples of rare side effects include hives, hallucinations, seizures, loss of balance, dyskinesia, dystonia, restless leg syndrome, muscle stiffness and tunnel vision.
