October 22 2017
October 23 – the waxing moon.
Sign: Sagittarius.
Liming the soil, applying mineral fertilizers for digging. Harvesting of late root crops: Jerusalem artichoke, parsnip, witloof, and Brussels sprouts.
October 24 – the waxing moon.
Sign: Capricorn.
Sanitary pruning of trees and shrubs. Inspection of tubers, rhizomes and bulbs of ornamental plants laid for storage, culling of patients. Selection of large tulip bulbs, daffodils and small-bulb flowers for winter forcing.
October 25 – the waxing moon.
Sign: Capricorn.
Preparing holes for planting trees and shrubs in the spring. Pruning perennials – preparation for mulching and winter shelter. Composting plant residues of healthy plants.
October 26 – the waxing moon.
Sign: Capricorn.
Sowing green vegetables in heated greenhouses and at home. Preparation of beds for winter sowing. Planting onions on a feather. Pickling cabbage.
October 27 – the waxing moon.
Sign: Capricorn.
Feeding all plants with mineral fertilizers. Covering up hollows in trees. Cleaning and whitewashing of fruit tree boles. Burning sick and damaged plants, tree branches and bushes.
October 28 – the waxing moon.
Sign: Aquarius.
Cleaning for winter storage of thermophilic aquatic plants. Covering heat-loving plants with spruce branches, mats made of dry plant stems. Mulching of perennials, near-trunk circles of young trees and shrubs.
October 29 – the waxing moon.
Sign: Aquarius.
Planting perennial onions for forcing: batun, chives, slime; root vegetables: parsley, celery, chard. Preparation of land for mulching crops and growing seedlings. Storage under a canopy or indoors.
