Solpadeine is an over-the-counter pain reliever. It is used not only in family medicine, but also in general surgery and in neurology. It combines the action of three ingredients: paracetamol, codeine and caffeine. Can everyone take Solpadeine? What contraindications are there? We check not only what precautions should be taken when using Solpadein, but also where it is available and what its price is.

One tablet of Solpadeine contains 500 mg of paracetamol, 30 mg of caffeine and 8 mg of codeine. The combination of these three ingredients makes Solpadein a powerful pain reliever.

Paracetamol has an analgesic effect as well as an antipyretic effect. Caffeine, by stimulating the nervous system, supports the action of paracetamol. Codeine helps to relieve pain and also has an antitussive effect.

Solpadeine tablets are white and oblong.

It is also worth mentioning that codeine is one of the non-opioid drugs with an analgesic effect. In pharmacology, it occurs not only in combination with other substances, including paracetamol, but also in monotherapy (treatment with one drug).

Solpadeine is used during the treatment of:

  1. headache;
  2. migraines;
  3. dysmenorrhea;
  4. toothache;
  5. nervousness;
  6. rheumatic pains;
  7. sore throat;

Before dosing, check the expiry date on the carton. If the tablets have expired, ask your pharmacist what to do with the tablets, as this medicine should not be thrown away via wastewater.

Taking Solpadein during pregnancy may cause a spontaneous miscarriage, and during childbirth – depression of the child’s respiratory system.
