Solidarity and Gstronomy meet in Intxaurrondo

The Gastronomic Week of Intxaurrondo, celebrates its 25th edition, and for this occasion it has brought together a group of old kitchen rockers who, together with new promises and renowned avant-garde chefs, will delight the palates of those attending both evenings.

The purpose of the dinners is to raise funds for a educational-solidarity project in Ethiopia, supporting and promoting the implementation of a School of Gastronomy and Hospitality in Wukro. Locality in the Tigray region in northern Abyssinia bordering Eritrea.

Confirmed their participation in the first appointment on September 14, the following chefs already have it, who seek to support with their creativity the achievement of a good part of the € 180.000 necessary to consolidate the project -school:

  • Andoni Luis Aduriz  (Mugaritz, with two Michelin stars)
  • Juan Mari and Elena Arzak (Arzak with three Michelin stars)
  • Pepe Solla (Casa Solla with a Michelin star).
  • Rubén Trincado (Mirador de Ulía with a Michelin star)

On the second day, September 16, the Young Dinner, prepared by young Basque chefs, with high potential and recognized background, but above all within the reach of everyone and for everyone, seeking to bring the general public closer to the haute cuisine. 

Capacity of 150 diners with a single requirement, be between 18 and 30 years old to have access to a reservation, for only 15 euros.

Koxk, bites of solidarity

The solidarity dinners are a very important part of the program “Flavors”, created by missionary Vasco Angel Olaran,  as a basis for the solidarity initiative that is grouped within the Evento KokK, For the second consecutive year, it combines gastronomic activity with solidarity action in the form of pinchos, tastings and contests.

With the slogan Take a Bite out of solidarity“On September 19, it will seek to bring together the largest fundraiser to support the flavors program in the construction of the aforementioned school in Wukro.

The initiative is endorsed by the Gastronomic Society of Intxaurrondo, by the San Sebastián city council, the Giuipuzcoa Provincial Council, and the Basque Government.

To give content to the project, a 1,4 km gastronomic tour will be carried out along the Intxaurrondo neighborhood, where they will be able to taste the pintxos made by local hoteliers to bring together haute cuisine, flavor, good taste and solidarity.
