Composition and action of Solcoseryl

Solcoseryl contains the active ingredient – protein-free (and antigen-free) calf blood dialysate. 1 g of the preparation contains approximately 4,15 mg of dialysate.

Calf blood dialysate is simply centrifuged and purified from unnecessary components (including proteins) calf blood. The use of dialysate from the blood of calves increases the reserves of phosphate present in the cells, increases the amount of oxygen used and accelerates the transport of glucose in the blood. Therefore, its presence in the human body supports the course of high-energy processes, including metabolic processes. In addition, dialysate improves the course of regenerative processes in cells that may have been damaged, are hypoxic or depleted of energy. It also stimulates the process of cell division and prevents the formation of further degenerative changes within cells.

Calf blood dialysate is usually used to assist in the treatment of wounds, ulcers and burns. The available preparations containing dialysate include both agents intended for external use (gels, ointments, pastes, creams) and liquid preparations intended for intravenous injection.

The other ingredients of the preparation are: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, calcium lactate pentahydrate, sodium carmellose, propylene glycol and water for injections.

One package contains 20 g of gel and costs a dozen or so zlotys.

How to use Solcoseryl gel?

Solcoseryl gel is an over-the-counter preparation that you can easily obtain in most pharmacies in our country, as well as in online pharmacies. Solcoseryl gel is intended only for external use, on the skin, in the place of unpleasant symptoms.

Usually, Solcoseryl gel is used – in the case of adults and children over 12 years of age – 2 times a day, applying a small layer of the preparation to the cleansed skin. Experts indicate that Solcoseryl gel works optimally in the case of exuding wounds, while the equivalent of this preparation in the form of an ointment is intended for application to dry skin.

It is recommended to use Solcoseryl gel in the initial phase of wound healing, thanks to which it will stimulate the granulation process. If the treatment is interrupted, the healing process may be delayed.

Do not use the preparation more often than described in the package leaflet. Increasing the amount of gel applied will not affect its effectiveness or its duration of action. Also, if you miss the prescribed dose of the preparation, do not use a double supplemental dose, but continue the current treatment.

Safety measures when taking Solcoseryl gel

As with all drugs, the use of Solcoseryl gel is also associated with certain safety requirements.

First of all, the preparation should not be used by people who are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. Allergic reactions occur most often under the influence of methyl parahydroxybenzoate or propyl parahydroxybenzoate present in the preparation. The drug may also cause delayed allergic reactions.

Solcoseryl gel is a largely safe preparation. Its use does not have any effect on the absorption and action of other drugs, which also do not interfere with its action. In the case of pregnant women and young mothers who are breastfeeding, it is recommended to consult a doctor about the possibility of using Solcoseryl gel.

The most common side effects caused by the use of the preparation include: allergic skin reactions and pain at the site of gel application. Both reactions are extremely rare (in less than 1 person in 10) and do not require discontinuation of the preparation.
