Can a teenager’s parents be «friends» with them on social media? And what communication rules do they need to remember? We asked an expert to comment on a typical situation described in our comic (see photo gallery). And if you suddenly don’t recognize yourself in it, you can find a continuation in one of the following articles in the Psychologies Comics series.
Expert Opinion
Tatyana Bednik, child psychologist: “Teens are separated from their parents. In real life — by separate steps, deeds or silence. And on the Web, parents are either in the list of friends or not; accepted or rejected. The separation of generations is necessary in order to realize oneself, and therefore the son has the right to symbolically “remove” the mother from his circle. But it’s even better for her to designate this department herself: “I admit that you are growing up, we will no longer be able to share absolutely everything with each other, so I remove you from my list.”
