What happens if a teenager’s parents insist on becoming their virtual friends? Child psychologist Tatyana Bednik comments on one of the typical situations.
Expert Opinion
Tatyana Bednik, child psychologist: “Energetic bodies, violent feelings — everything suggests that soon parents will have to say goodbye to a child who becomes an adult. Separation is frightening — hence the thirst to keep him in sight all the time, comforting yourself with the illusion of control over his life. But the more we know about it, the more reason to worry. The Internet provides a lot of opportunities for surveillance, but it only leads to a feeling of powerlessness. First of all, ask yourself: what is it for? What to do with information obtained against the will of the child? How to continue to communicate with him? An adult runs the risk of falling into a trap set by him.”
