Hypertension is one of the most popular diseases among the world’s population. They can be caused by everyday situations such as poor diet, lack of exercise or constant exposure to stress. There are many medications for lowering blood pressure. One of them is Sobycor.

Sobycor – action

Sobycor is a drug that reduces blood pressure. It is used in the case of:

  1. high blood pressure
  2. angina,
  3. chronic stable heart failure in combination therapy with other drugs, including ACE inhibitors, digitalis glycosides and diuretics.

The active substance, bisoprolol fumarate, is responsible for the properties of Sobycor. It is a beta-blocker that reduces the heart rate and the strength of the contraction of the heart muscle. In addition, it leads to a reduction in excessively high blood pressure. As a result, the active substance of the drug Sobycor protects the heart during intense physical exertion and in stressful situations.

Sobycor – dosage

The drug Sobycor in tablets is intended for oral administration. The manufacturer recommends taking it in the morning, with or without a meal, and washed down with water. Sobycor tablets must not be chewed or crushed.

Daily doses of Sobycor are determined by a doctor. The drug intake should be carefully controlled by him, especially at the beginning of treatment, when increasing the dose and discontinuing the treatment. Taking Sobycor may lead to impaired concentration, so it is better to avoid driving or operating machinery.

Sobycor – contraindications

Do not take Sobycor if you:

  1. is allergic to the active substance of the drug, bisoprolol, or other excipients,
  2. suffers from heart disease, bronchial asthma and diseases causing narrowing of the airways, low blood pressure, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, untreated pheochromocytoma, metabolic acidosis, thyroid disease, diabetes, psoriasis, spasms of the fingers and toes,
  3. apart from Sobycor, he is taking other drugs, especially class I antiarrhythmics (including phenytoin, quinidine, propafenone or flecainide), drugs recommended in the treatment of arterial hypertension (including rilmenidine, clonidine and moxonidine) or drugs used in angina or irregular activity heart) – consultation with a doctor is required,
  4. if you are pregnant or suspect that you are pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.

Sobycor – side effects

The most common side effects when taking Sobycor are:

  1. weakness, tiredness, feeling cold,
  2. numbness in the legs and arms,
  3. headaches and dizziness,
  4. low blood pressure,
  5. nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea.

Treatment with the Sobycor product is much less likely to cause:

  1. depression
  2. sleep disturbances,
  3. muscle weakness and cramps,
  4. breathing problems when you suffer from asthma or chronic lung disease.

The least common side effects of Sobycor therapy are:

  1. allergic rhinitis,
  2. dry eyes
  3. hearing impairment,
  4. allergic skin reactions such as rash, redness, itching,
  5. hepatitis,
  6. nightmares, fainting, hallucinations
  7. erectile dysfunction,
  8. deterioration of morphology results,
  9. conjunctivitis,
  10. psoriasis,
  11. alopecia.

Sobycor – price

There are two variants of the drug available in pharmacies – Sobycor 5 mg and Sobycor 10 mg. Their price is PLN 8 and PLN 13, respectively, for a package of 30 tablets. Sobycor substitutes include Bisohexal, Concor Cor, Corectin, among others.
