The initiative to give gifts to babies and their parents was first made by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin at the end of 2017, and since the beginning of 2018, families with newborns began to receive boxes with things that a child may need in the first months of life. The list of items for the gift set, which began to be called the “Sobyanin box”, was determined by experts in the field of motherhood and childhood, the parent community and pediatricians. Here’s what’s included in 2022.
What is “Sobyanin’s box”
The “Our Treasure” gift set, as it is officially called, is a social support program for parents of newborn Muscovites. a gift can be received at the birth of a child in Moscow.
| Conditions for receiving a set | Upon discharge from the capital’s maternity hospital, newly-made parents are given a gift set for a newborn or a cash payment in the amount of 20 rubles. How to get a “Sobyanin box” for newborns
A gift from the mayor of Moscow for discharge from the hospital is usually given to one of the parents on the solemn day of discharge. You can also get a “Sobyanin box” for newborns in 2022 at the social security authority, if for some reason the parents did not receive it at the maternity hospital.
Moscow residents
Muscovites do not provide any documents when receiving a gift set at the maternity hospital. If the father of the baby receives a dowry for a newborn from the state, he must present a passport or other identity card, a marriage certificate or birth certificate of the child, in which he is recorded by the father, and a document confirming the residence in the capital. If the parents do not have registration in Moscow, then in order to receive a set, the mother and father must present an identity card and a birth certificate of the child registered in the capital. Also, a gift set can be obtained from the social security authority by providing the required documents.
– With the advent of the first child, I had no doubts in choosing a box from Sobyanin, so to speak, the prize sector was more interesting. What can I say: there are worthwhile things, but there are enough unnecessary and disposable things in the box. I can single out winter overalls that fit both the first and second child, and even remained suitable for transfer to a relative, suitable for a demi-season without lining and for a fierce winter with a sheep’s liner; the same goes for autumn overalls. A lot of cotton “disposable” things such as sliders, bodysuits, caps, anti-scratches, small, strangely sewn, where the threads are at the seams after the first wash. Most of them did not suit us at all, because. the child was born large (4140), many things were immediately small. But the effect of the prize sector was still remembered, with the second child they already took monetary compensation. In any case, I do not regret that I chose the box for the first time, says a young mother from Moscow.
Residents of the Moscow region
Since 2019, the families of the Moscow region have been receiving a gift from Governor Vorobyov – a box with the most necessary things for the first months of a baby’s life. The gift set will be given to parents after they receive the child’s birth certificate. Gift “I was born in the suburbs!” includes a convenient container for toys, which is filled with clothes for the baby (bodysuits, rompers, scratchers, overalls, hats, etc.), a set of bed linen, cosmetics for mom and baby care, hygiene products and other necessary goods. Parents have the opportunity to choose a gift set or a cash payment for the purchase of everything necessary for the baby in the amount of 20 thousand rubles. The money is transferred to a bank account. Citizens of Our Country can receive a set or a cash payment, subject to state registration of the birth of a child by the registry office of the Moscow Region. Those families who, for some reason, did not pick up the kit at the maternity hospital, will only be able to receive a cash payment. To receive money, you must fill out an electronic application at the registry office or on your own on the Moscow Region services portal (1) within a month after receiving a birth certificate.
Residents of other regions
The regions are gradually joining the initiative: to give gift sets with a dowry for a baby. Boxes for newborns with essentials are already being distributed to families in more than 20 regions of the country.
In the Murmansk region, young parents were able to receive such a kit for a newborn already in January 2021. Also, since the beginning of 2021, the project “A Gift to a Newborn Transbaikalian” has been operating in Transbaikalia. In September 2021, the campaign for the issuance of boxes started in the Khabarovsk Territory. From the beginning of 2022, families in the Arkhangelsk region began to receive gift sets for newborns. To receive a gift in the regions, local registration and a standard set of documents are required. Each region has its own filling of the gift box. In some cities, parents receive rather modest packages. Money for such sets is allocated from the regional budget, so the content of the set depends on how rich this or that region is.
What is included in the Sobyanin box
The gift set “Our Treasure”, which is given to parents of newborns in Moscow, consists of 44 items. Families can also choose a cash payment of 20 rubles instead of a box.
The gift set includes:
- bedding (mattress, diapers, oilcloths, sheets and blankets);
- clothing (overalls, rompers, jumpsuits made of cotton with buttons, bodysuits with long and short sleeves, hats, caps, bib, scratches and booties);
- baby bath set (towel with mittens, water thermometer);
- hygiene products (diapers, wet wipes, cotton pads, cotton buds, comb and brush for newborn hair, hypoallergenic baby powder, baby diaper rash cream, baby bathing gel, baby shampoo);
- baby utensils (feeding bottle and nipples);
- beanbag;
- silicone teether;
- pacifier;
- children’s scissors.
Boxes for boys and girls differ in the color scheme of the clothes included in the set. The colors of overalls and bodysuits change depending on the gender of the baby.
– Of course, the box contains only certified products made from materials that are safe for the health of the baby and mother. It is very important! A few years ago, when Moscow decided to launch this project, the box was formed with the participation of experts, pediatricians and, of course, young mothers. How to exchange Sobyanin’s box for monetary compensation
Step 1
Collect all the documents necessary to receive the payment (passport or other document proving the identity of the parents, containing information about the place of residence, birth certificate of the child, an extract from a credit institution on account details.
Step 2
No later than two months from the date of birth of the baby, submit documents and an application for the appointment of a compensation payment to the My Documents public services center in person (if neither parent has a place of residence in Moscow, but the birth of the child was registered in Moscow) or online ( 2) (if at least one parent (adoptive parent) has a residence permit in Moscow).
Step 3
Wait for a decision on the appointment of a compensation payment or on refusal within 10 working days from the date of application.
Step 4
Receive a cash payment to your account no later than the 26th day of the month following the month in which the decision was made.
