82-year-old David Deutschman helps nursing premature babies. It is impossible to look at this without emotion!
David Deutschman used to work in international business marketing. But age took its toll, and 15 years ago the man retired. Began lecturing at the University of Atlanta. But this seemed to him not enough to take his free time. And David decided to volunteer at a local health center. He is now 82 years old. For the past 12 years, he has devoted himself to nursing premature babies. They call him “Grandpa Intensive Therapy” here.
Children who are born prematurely are not known to be able to immediately go home with their parents. They are left in the perinatal departments for growing up. This usually takes a month, or even two. Parents do not find a place for themselves while their kids are in the hospital: after all, being around around the clock will not work, and the baby is probably so lonely in his “incubator”.
So thought the mother of baby Logan – the baby was born on the 25th week, as much as 15 weeks ahead of schedule. The woman literally could not sleep at night, worried about her baby. And one morning she returned to the hospital and found David’s grandfather, who was babysitting her son. Logan slept sweetly while his grandfather hugged him. Logan’s mom burst into tears. Through tears, she managed to photograph this cute couple. She posted the picture on Facebook. The woman hardly expected the photo to go viral. But the picture was shared almost 70 thousand times.
David Deutschman comes to the hospital twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Over the years, he has nursed more than a thousand children.
“I really enjoy doing this. Not only because I am able to help children calm down and stop crying. From this connection, when a tiny face rests right in front of my heart, it becomes warmer for me and for them, “- David told the publication
Grandpa Intensive Therapy is married and has two grown-up daughters over 50. He has grandchildren. But he seems to have enough warmth for a whole state. David tries to comfort and calm not only babies, but also their mothers.
“I talk to mothers, sometimes I hold their hand. Holding mom’s hand is just as important as holding a baby in your arms, he says. – For parents, all this is a huge stress. It is very important for them that one day someone tells them that they can safely go and have breakfast, and their baby will not be alone at this time. “
