How long can you stand the sound effects of your partner, neighbor or visiting guest who, dozing at their best, does not allow the listener to sleep peacefully? What is snoring and why does it appear in humans?
Snoring is nothing more than a pathology of the body resulting from its improper functioning. It should be remembered, however, that snoring cannot be qualified only as anatomical abnormalities related to the structure of the upper respiratory tract. The reasons for such behavior are not clear, which is why it is so hard to define the problem.
A sleepless night may concern the listener but also the person concerned. So what to do to prevent the night from becoming a nightmare?
Snoring is nothing more than the uneven bouncing of air from the skin folds of the nose and the internal work of the throat cavity. It can be caused by many factors that at first glance are not related to the work of the respiratory system.
Full stomach – perhaps the reason lies in the fact that you eat at night. The dilated stomach presses on the diaphragm, which plays an important role in the breathing process, especially in men. Gentlemen most often breathe the diaphragmatic-rib track, so it is in their nature that the so-called belly breathing. A full, lazy and slow-digesting stomach does not help with full and even intake of air, which may result in an unpleasant sound.
Emotional problems – snoring is often accompanied by its varying intensity. Perhaps this is a signal to think more about what bothers us, what we have a problem with, how to help ourselves in “day” life. Stress and worries that arise during the day can be released at night. If a person has a strong nervous tension, the walls of the throat and larynx are also tense – thanks to this, the air stream does not flow straight through them, but hits the tense tissues and these are introduced into sound vibrations.
Allergy – especially inhalant. Allergy sufferers know best that the time of plant pollen and dust in the air as well as mites in the pet’s fur lead to rhinitis (especially the frontal and paranasal sinuses). The secretion that is produced by them for defensive purposes stays in the body creating a respiratory blockage. The air that is sucked in by the body looks for available ways to get to the lungs and to the diaphragm. In this case, it is extremely difficult because the airways are obstructed. And this can be another reason for the unpleasant ailments associated with snoring.
In addition to the reasons listed above, it is worth considering a visit to an ENT specialist. He will best assess the condition of the respiratory and phonatory apparatus. He will check the quality of the mucosa secreted by the body, the patency of the airways, and most importantly, their anatomical arrangement.
It would also be good to change the habits of the body’s functioning. Moisturize the mucosa and throat before sleeping, eg with infusions or inhalations, hydrate the body (remember to moisturize the throat by drinking non-carbonated water in small sips and with high frequency). It will also be good to do basic morphological research, taking into account minerals and sugar.
