Mini cacti are distinguished by their variety.
Unpretentious care is:
- Rebucia are compact plants that are ideal for creating a variety of flower arrangements. 2 years after planting in the summer, bright flowers bloom on it;
- “Lobivia” blooms in the middle of summer with large flowers. This species loves bright light, and with its lack, it stretches and loses its decorative effect. Plants do not tolerate waterlogging of the soil;
- “Sulcorebutia” blooms in mid-spring, if favorable conditions are created for this: good lighting and moderate watering.
These types of cacti need a well-lit place and timely watering in the summer. There is no need to water them in winter.
They do not take up much space and get along well next to other compositions. Grow them in the south window and enjoy the beautiful flowers.
How to care for a small cactus
Caring for cacti may differ depending on the specific species. But there are some general rules. All types of cacti love light, so place the flower pot on a well-lit windowsill on the sunny side of the house.
Water the flowers with warm, settled water at room temperature. This can be done under the stem or by pouring water into the pan. In summer, it is enough 3 times a week, when the top layer of the earth dries up. In the fall, water once a week, and in the winter, the cactus does not need watering.
In the summer, take the cactus out into the fresh air, for example, on the balcony.
In winter, he feels better in partial shade with high air humidity. It will not be superfluous to periodically spray the plant. Cacti are capable of adapting to any regime. They grow well at room temperature, and in winter they feel comfortable at 10⁰С.
At a young age, once a year, transplant the cactus into a new pot slightly larger than the old one. There should be a drainage layer at the bottom. The soil should be loose, use special earthen mixtures that can be bought at the store. It is good if it contains leafy earth, river sand and peat.
It is not difficult to take care of miniature cacti, and already 3 years after planting, you can see their extraordinary flowering on your own window.
