Slow monster: named the product that kills every day

Healthy eating is more relevant than ever. If there is no way to replace the usual foods in the diet with the most useful and healing ones, then you can at least try to eliminate the harmful ones. In principle, you can limit yourself to just one, which a well-known nutritionist calls a “killer”.

Nutritionist Alexei Kovalkov’s YouTube channel regularly publishes videos about nutrition. There, a popular doctor reveals the secrets of losing weight and answers users’ questions. On April 4, Kovalkov presented a video about the dangers of bread.

According to the professor, it is necessary to at least gradually limit the consumption of bakery products. The thing is that our favorite baguettes, loaves and croissants have a high glycemic index. The higher this indicator, the faster glucose enters the bloodstream and the sharper its jump will be. This leads to the fact that literally a couple of hours after the meal, a person may again experience hellish hunger. Hence – the desire to eat urgently and densely, and then – the inevitable excess weight.

By the way, the glycemic index of bread is even higher than that of sugar!

Kovalkov explains that now most people do not need such doses of sugar, since our work and lifestyle are predominantly sedentary and sedentary. Most people do not have time to spend the calories that they received as a result of consuming bread products in a day. It will take at least an hour of physical activity in the gym to “work out” one standard piece of bread. But many of us still accompany each meal with bread.

The doctor also noted that if you find it difficult to give up bread, then perhaps it’s just a habit. Patients come to Kovalkov every day, who say that they can refuse anything, even sweet, but bread – for nothing! The specialist advises them to revise their diet for the sufficient amount of calories necessary in order to stay full all day. However, for true fans of the harmful product, there is also a little consolation. “You can eat bread, but not more than two or three times a year,” the doctor delighted.

Nutritionists advise replacing the white flour bread we have been used to since childhood with rye or whole grain. The Healthy Food Near Me editorial board advises readers to listen to the recommendations of Dr. Alexei Kovalkov and take care of their health more carefully.
