Slow-Mag B6

Slow-Mag B6 is a preparation used in the deficiency of magnesium and vitamin. B6. The drug is a combined preparation containing vitamins and minerals. The preparation is indicated in increased irritability and susceptibility to stress, arterial hypertension, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. People with acute renal failure should not take the preparation. The medicine is in the form of over-the-counter tablets.

Slow-Mag B6 – indications and dosage

Slow-Mag B6 is recommended:

  1. in deficiencies of magnesium and vit. B6,
  2. in states of increased stress,
  3. in heart rhythm disorders,
  4. Pregnant,
  5. during breastfeeding,
  6. in water and electrolyte disturbances,
  7. in kidney stones.

Dosage

Slow-Mag B6 is in the form of tablets to be taken by mouth, the capsules should be swallowed whole.

  1. Adults as a preventive measure. 1 tablet 2 × / d. Healing. 5 tablets / day (2 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets in the evening) for 3 weeks, then 3 tablets. in the evening.
  2. Children after 12 years of age in short-term therapy max. 3 tablets / day in a dose. division

Slow-Mag B6 and contraindications

Contraindication to the use of Slow-Mag B6 is:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. hypermagnesemia,
  3. severe arterial hypotension,
  4. heart conduction disturbances,
  5. kidney failure
  6. myasthenia gravis,
  7. parallel use with levodopa.

Slow-Mag B6 – warnings

  1. In patients with impaired renal function, the need to reduce the dose of Slow-Mag B6 (according to the concentration of magnesium ion in the blood serum) should be taken into account, since hypermagnesaemia may occur.
  2. Acute renal failure is a contraindication to the use of the preparation.
  3. Magnesium compounds have a laxative effect, therefore long-term use of magnesium preparations may lead to electrolyte imbalance.
  4. Simultaneous intake of other preparations containing magnesium or vitamin B6 may cause their excess in the body.
  5. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking Slow-Mag B6.

Slow-Mag B6 and other substances

  1. Organic acids, phytin, oxalic acid, tannin, fatty acids, phosphates as well as calcium preparations used in high doses may limit the absorption of magnesium from gastro-resistant tablets.
  2. Slow-Mag B6 may reduce the absorption of tetracyclines, calcium compounds, fluoride (including fluoroquinolones), iron preparations and oral warfarin-derived anticoagulants.
  3. Urinary magnesium excretion is increased by diuretics, aminoglycosides, cisplatin, mithramycin, amphotericin B, mineralocorticosteroids.
  4. Concurrent use of amiodarone may induce cardiac conduction disturbances and the use of dihydralazine may induce significant arterial hypotension.

Slow-Mag B6 – side effects

While taking Slow-Mag B6, the following may occasionally occur:

  1. diarrhea
  2. nausea.
