Sliding partition doors: 4 ideas

Sliding partition doors: 4 ideas

Here you will find five designs for the original use of sliding partitions – in the kitchen, living room, dining room and bedroom.

Non-standard approach

How to combine kitchen and living room? Very simple: with the help of a wardrobe. Instead of trivial lower and upper kitchen cabinets, you can create a floor-to-ceiling storage system hidden behind large sliding doors. It will turn out to be a kind of dressing room, only not for clothes, but for dishes and household appliances. We suggest taking the hob to the “island”. If desired, almost all kitchen belongings can be hidden from view and, comfortably sitting in front of the TV, empathize with the heroes of the next series. Of course, this solution is optimal for a large kitchen. This is where all the benefits of a sliding design will become apparent.

Partition sliding doors

  • Photo 1. This kitchen island is used as both a stove and a bar. Here you can have breakfast or arrange a quick afternoon snack for children who ran home between school and the sports section.
  • Photo 2. To prevent large canvases of sliding doors from looking boring, they made transparent “windows” decorated with an aluminum layout. On the shelves that are in plain sight, you can display the most beautiful dishes, as in a showcase.
  • Photo 3. The only thing that might be intimidating about this project is the small number of horizontal work surfaces. But you must admit, no matter how long the kitchen countertop is, sooner or later batteries of “very necessary” things are built on it, and for cooking, at best, there remains an island the size of a large plate.

Florist bedroom

A bedroom in a cozy attic – what could be more romantic! Only now with the organization of a dressing room under an inclined ceiling, difficulties arise. And here the same sliding partition will come to the rescue. We suggest covering the partition panels with a fabric depicting huge stylized flowers. The floral theme will be supported by a Roman blind on the window with a smaller rapport.

The predominant color in this bedroom is mustard yellow. And the walls and bevels of the sloped ceiling are painted pale yellow. Thus, even on a cloudy day, the room gives the impression of being bathed in sunlight.

  • Photo 1. Keep in mind, wherever the attic is, in the city or in a cottage, a little rustic style with wicker furniture and flowered curtains always suits her.
  • Photo 2. An indent of 20 cm is left between the sliding partitions and the shelves of the dressing room. As a result, deep shelves, which are often impractical, have been avoided. Better to sacrifice excess space for the sake of convenience.
  • Photo 3. To decorate the sliding panels, you can use upholstery fabric of a suitable color. If you want something exclusive, get an art canvas. Many photo centers provide services for applying any image the customer likes to the fabric. The only limitation is the size of the canvas: an order that is too large may not be accepted.

Rot Front!

Floor-to-ceiling red sliding doors are a bold move. Not everyone will allow this in their interior. But if doors separate the kitchen and dining area, why not? After all, red is known to whet the appetite. You just need to take care of the appropriate environment. We advise you not to get carried away with the variety of colors. Take a look at our photo. With only three colors at his disposal – red, white and light wood, the designer has achieved complete color harmony. Variety is achieved due to textures, as well as interesting forms of furniture, lamps, accessories. Of course, white became the main background color – such are the walls, kitchen furniture, blinds, curtains and carpet. On a white background, dark wood furniture (for example, wenge) would look too contrasting and gloomy. Therefore, it is better to use natural oak (as in our case), birch or ash.

  • Photo 1. Sliding doors are made of glass framed by an aluminum profile. To get a bright saturated color, a film was glued to the glass on one side. It fits perfectly on a smooth surface and has the same glossy shine.
  • Photo 2. A shelving unit is hidden behind sliding doors. Both parts of the structure complement each other and form a practical and attractive partition. A good option for a small apartment. Sliding doors can move either on the top or on the bottom track. The top one is more expensive, but makes it possible not to spoil the flooring and not to trip over the rail.
  • Photo 3. Books, audio equipment, household items and decor items have found their “registration” on the shelves of the rack.

Repository of information

Books tend to accumulate, and then certain difficulties arise with their placement. A wall-to-wall bookcase with hinged sliding doors is a worthy solution to the problem. It can also accommodate an LCD TV, as well as audio and video equipment. Depending on what exactly you will be storing in the closet, the depth and height of the shelves are calculated. Sliding doors in our project do not immediately obstruct the entire storage system. Their white glossy surface only partially covers the diversity of book spines, and the TV can be hidden when not needed. The racking sections must be fixed to the wall, as they, in turn, will hold the door rail system. This is especially important if there are small children in the house.

  • Photo 1. The high-tech fireplace is eye-catching. The color scheme of the interior is not rich, but very effective: white and red go well with walnut wood.
  • Photo 2. The sliding doors are double-layered. The front side is made of white frosted glass, and the back is made of thin chipboard. Thanks to this, the doors turned out to be lightweight, despite their rather large size.
  • Photo 3. The hardware compartment is highlighted with color. In the rear wall of the compartment, holes are made into which it is convenient to pass wires.
