Skinoren gel is used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne on the face of papillary acne. The active substance of the drug is azelaic acid, which has an antibacterial effect, blocks keratosis of the epidermis and reduces the number of comedones. The preparation can be used only on the skin, without additional occlusive dressings. The drug is available at the pharmacy without a prescription.

Skinoren gel is an anti-acne drug for topical use.
Indications and dosage Skinoren gel
Indications: Mild to moderate acne of the facial skin papular and pustular.
Dosage: apply Skinoren gel only to the skin. Before applying the gel to the skin, wash it thoroughly with water or a mild skin cleanser and dry it; wash hands after applying. A 2,5 cm long gel strip covers the skin of the face. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the skin lesions. A clear improvement is achieved after about 4 weeks of systematic treatment.
- Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected areas twice a day in the morning and in the evening, pat carefully and use for several months.
- In case of significant skin irritation, reduce the amount of the product applied, use it once a day until the irritation symptoms subside or – if necessary, stop the treatment for a few days.
Skinoren gel and contraindications
Contraindication to the use of Skinoren gel is hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, azelaic acid or propylene glycol. The site of gel application should not be covered with occlusive dressings.
Skinoren gel – warnings
- Skinoren gel should not come into contact with the eyes, mouth and mucous membranes. If the preparation comes into contact with the eyes, rinse them immediately with plenty of water, and if irritation persists, consult a doctor.
- Before using the preparation in pregnant or breastfeeding women, a doctor should be consulted.
- Avoid contact of the newborn with the treated skin.
- Patients should consult a physician if eye irritation continues.
- You should wash your hands after each use of the preparation.
- Skinoren gel contains an auxiliary substance propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation.
- The slightly benzoic acid contained in the drug may irritate the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
- Adolescents (12 to 18 years of age) should be used in the treatment of papulopustular acne.
Skinoren gel – interactions
There are no data on the interaction of Skinoren gel with other preparations.
Skinoren gel – possible side effects
- Very common: burning sensation, scalding.
- Common: pruritus, erythema, skin irritation, dry and peeling skin.
- Uncommon: contact dermatitis, skin discoloration.
