The rose is considered one of the most beautiful flowers. However, in addition to its wonderful appearance, it also has very interesting medical properties that we usually forget. Rose extracts used in creams, lotions and other body care cosmetics have moisturizing and rejuvenating properties.

The history of the healing rose – moisturizing

The origins of the use of rose in cosmetics date back to ancient Rome and ancient Greece. Rose extracts were used as rejuvenating and beauty “preserving” agents. They were also used as balms for embalming the dead, which was supposed to preserve the beauty, radiance and youth of a given person even then. In Greece, Hippocrates was the first to notice the healing properties of the rose. In this way, the first cosmetic properties of the rose were noticed, i.e. its excellent hydration and rejuvenation of the skin. Later in Persia rose water was used as one of the most beautiful perfumes.

Properties of cosmetics with a rose

  • They moisturize the skin beautifully
  • They have a wonderful smell. The scent of rose is considered one of the most beautiful floral fragrances
  • Rose has a strengthening effect because it contains many vitamins, including vitamin C
  • Perfectly moisturizes and rejuvenates tired skin
  • The flavonoids contained in it have a stabilizing effect on the capillaries, stop bleeding and have an antioxidant effect. Rose creams can therefore be great moisturizing creams for couperose skin
  • The ingredients contained in the rose also have an anti-inflammatory effect. Rose extracts will be great for healing and moisturizing problematic skin
  • Rosehip oil also soothes sunburn
  • Rose has antibacterial properties

How to use rose cosmetics?

It will be helpful to carefully read the composition of moisturizing creams and lotions. A good moisturizing cream that has rose in its composition will consist not only of rose petal extract, but also of root extract.

It is good if the cosmetic also has another cooperating ingredient, e.g. macadamia nut oil. Thanks to this, the skin will be both moisturized and nourished, and will remain smooth and soft to the touch for a long time.

Rose oil is very expensive and difficult to obtain. Sometimes, trying to get the same rose scent, manufacturers also use geranium oil. You should pay attention to this when choosing a cosmetic.
