Newly baked parents do their best to care for their baby as best as possible. They wonder if they chose the diapers well and whether they put them on properly, whether they use a good liquid for bathing. Oil or balm? There are many distractions. Do not worry, the child will not only forgive you for a small shortcoming, but simply will not notice them. Despite this, most parents want to have everything under control and nurture their child properly. How to take care of the baby’s delicate skin, what cosmetics and diapers to use, how often to bathe?
What’s the best way to take care of baby’s delicate skin?
The baby’s skin is delicate and thin like parchment, especially susceptible to irritation. It should be cared for in such a way as to avoid heat rash or diaper rash. It is also very important to choose appropriately light and delicate cosmetics designed specifically for the baby’s skin.
How to change a baby to avoid irritation?
Especially in the first months of life, it is a frequent ritual. The type of diapers we choose is not as important as the frequency of changing. Moisture, heat, lack of air, pee or poop can all cause diaper dermatitis. For the first two months of your baby’s life, you should change the diaper every 3-4 hours and always immediately after uncovering the poop, even at night. The butt can be cleaned with disposable wipes, or with warm water and cotton pads. You can use a soft cloth diaper to dry it. Before putting on a new diaper, apply anti-diaper rash cream to the bottom. An excellent, healthy and also cheap solution is the use of potato flour. It prevents the skin from sweating, especially on hot days.
Go to the bathtub!
Bathing a toddler is a challenge, especially when your fear is combined with your child’s reluctance to get wet. You do not have to bathe your baby in boiled water, it is important that it is at the right temperature. The best way to check this is by dipping your elbow in the bathtub. A toddler who is not yet crawling does not need to be bathed every day, it is enough to wash his face, neck, hands and, of course, his bottom. Even if your little one loves to bathe, a bath shouldn’t be long. 5 minutes is enough, staying in water for too long will dry out the skin. You can add potato flour to the water in the bathtub, it has moisturizing properties, or a special moisturizing liquid. After bathing, it is also worth moisturizing the baby’s skin with lotion or olive.
What cosmetics are suitable for a baby?
Cosmetics for the care of delicate baby skin must be selected according to the type of skin. Other preparations will be used by the child’s mother with skin without problems, and others for atopic skin that requires moisturizing and the use of emollients for baths, i.e. washing liquids and protecting against drying of the skin. It is also important to care for the navel in the first days of life. The skin around should be gently cleaned with a cotton swab moistened with salicylic alcohol. On hot sunny days, it is necessary to use a cream with a high sunscreen to prevent skin burns. It is best not to expose the baby directly to the sun. He will do best in the shade, under an umbrella. Preparations for washing clothes should be selected for the baby. Some are supporters of traditional soap flakes that do not cause allergies. There are also special delicate powders for washing or rinsing. When using a given preparation for the first time, you should carefully observe the baby’s skin reactions. What is good for others is not necessarily good for your child.
