The processes of renewal in the body do not stop: it constantly synthesizes new cells and utilizes old ones. True, if we talk about the skin, these processes can slow down for various reasons. The procedure for exfoliating dead cells – peeling will help. What does she give?

  • Improves complexion. Due to exfoliation, dead skin particles are removed, the skin looks fresher and renewed.
  • Fights acne. Peeling helps to get rid of small pimples and prevents the appearance of new ones – as part of a comprehensive program for the care of problem skin.

  • Smoothes wrinkles. Peeling evens out the skin texture, smoothing fine wrinkles.

Skin Exfoliation Methods

First, we list the salon procedures.

  • Microcrystalline dermabrasion – one of the varieties of mechanical peeling. The impact on the skin is slightly harsher than with home use of the scrub. Contraindications: thin sensitive skin, acne, rosacea.
  • Dermabrasion – resurfacing of the face, in which not only the upper stratum corneum of the epidermis is removed, but also the living cells located deeper. This procedure is equivalent to a surgical operation and is performed under anesthesia. The list of contraindications is impressive.
  • Fractional photothermolysis – laser peeling. The procedure is almost painless and fast (about 30 minutes). It takes place in 3 stages: first, the cosmetologist applies an antiseptic cream, then treats the face and décolleté area with a laser beam, and finally applies a mask and cream.
  • Chemical peeling There are several varieties – deep, median and superficial, depending on the strength of the impact of acids. Contraindications – sensitive skin, individual intolerance to the components.

Home remedies for exfoliation are safer and less aggressive. This is their advantage and disadvantage: they are unlikely to damage the skin, but the effect will not be so noticeable.

Cleansing masks

It is good if they contain not only exfoliating components, but also nourishing, moisturizing, whitening. You can use masks once every 10-14 days if the skin is normal or mixed, and once every 7-10 days if the skin is oily.

Scrubs

Each skin type has its own scrub base.

  • Foaming cream – for oily or combination skin.
  • Gentle emulsion with emollient fats and waxes for dry and sensitive skin.
  • Light gel – for normal skin.

Exfoliating creams

They not only gently exfoliate dead skin particles, but also nourish and soothe the skin, relieve irritation.

Peelings

They are most often available in lotion or serum form and are a homemade version of a light chemical peel based on glycolic and/or fruit acids (ANA). Exfoliating abrasive particles are not included.

If the forms of exfoliating agents listed above imply subsequent washing, then after peeling, a caring agent is immediately applied.

Exfoliation steps

  1. Wet your head.

  2. Separate your hair into sections and apply an exfoliator.

  2. Apply an exfoliator.

  3. Wash away.

The right choice of funds

For dry skin

Exfoliate no more than once a week. Do not use creams and scrubs with hard abrasives (for example, crushed apricot kernels): they injure already sensitive skin. Instead, use products with polyurethane or silicone granules.

For oily skin

Peeling is recommended no more than 2 times a week, otherwise you can injure the skin and make the sebaceous glands work even more actively. Your choice is products based on clay or salicylic acid. You can use both scrubs with abrasive particles for physical exfoliation, and products with enzymes.

For mixed skin

The frequency of exfoliation is 1-2 times a week. In this case, peeling performs two functions:

  1. cleanses the skin;

  2. controls the production of sebum in oily areas.

Enzyme scrubs, as well as products with glycolic acid, are suitable for owners of combination skin.

For problematic skin

Your maximum program is peeling 1-2 times a week. Scrubs with enzymes should be avoided, but the use of products with polymer balls is encouraged. It is good if salicylic acid is included in the composition: it destroys pathogenic bacteria, the cause of acne.

If there are open inflammatory elements on the skin, the peeling procedure should not be carried out categorically.
